The driver of a P T Cruiser was killed around 10AM this morning when the vehicle she was driving slammed into the building of Sears Department Store at Northgate Mall. A male child, also travelling in the vehicle, was taken to T. C. Thompson’s Children’s Hospital with possible head injuries.
According to witnesses to the incident, the driver entered the Northgate Mall entrance from Hwy 153. For a moment, the driver appeared to be indecisive as to which way to turn. Seconds later, the vehicle jumped an adjacent curb and sped toward Sears, where it crashed into southwest corner of the building. The crash left a 3ft x 4 ft hole in the wall of the shoe storage area of the department store. It is unclear as to what caused the driver to run into the building.
The victims of the crash have not yet been identified. As soon as more information becomes available, it will be released.
