Over the weekend, police apprehended an attempted murder suspect wanted in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on April 9, 2009, around the 3800 block of 7th Avenue . After receiving a Crime Stopper’s tip on his whereabouts, police arrested Erik Rosenbaum at the Hamilton Point Apartments. He was apprehended as he came out of one of the apartments.
Warrants for Rosenbaum were issued following a robbery in which 25-year-old Justin Edwards was shot in the face. On April 9, 2009, Edwards reported that he and a female friend went to a location in the 3800 block of 7th Avenue where they met up with an unknown white male and unknown black male who agreed to help them buy marijuana. After obtaining the drugs, the white male suspect put a gun to Edward’s head and demanded his money. Sometime during the altercation, Edwards attempted to get away from the suspects and was shot. The suspects then took $2 from the female passenger in the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.
Edwards was not seriously injured in the incident and after the ordeal, drove his female passenger home. Nearly two hours after the shooting, he went to Hutcheson Medical Center where he was treated and released. Following an investigation of the incident, police were able to identify Rosenbaum and Charles Shelton who was arrested on April 13, 2009, by the Chattanooga Police Fugitive Division.
Rosenbaum was arrested on outstanding warrants for attempted 1st degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery and criminal conspiracy. He is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
