The price of meat is increasing as the cost of corn, etc soars due to demand from ethanol distilleries. This is just the beginning of the economic impact of the true costs of fighting global warming. As the demand increases for alternative fuel sources, so will the costs to every man, woman and child on the earth. Furthermore, additional new regulations of the oil industry and businesses to reduce emissions will also add a significant cost to just about every consumer good manufactured. Who suffers the most? The poor who will not be able to afford food or fuel. business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/consumer_goods/article1642746.ece

I pay $2.70 for gas right now.
Makes me glad that I live in a small town and only 2 miles or so to work.
I use one tank of gas every 3 weeks or so.
BTW, people could boycott if they don't like the prices...

Every time I sit down and go over our family budget to see where we could cut corners I am SHOCKED at how much we spend on food. We rarely eat out, buy only chicken and ground beef, comparison shop and use coupons, and still spend more on food that we do on our mortgage payment each month for our family of 6.

Shoot a moose and catch a few salmon and a couple of halibut.
It'll feed you for a while.

That's fine for Alaska, but remember most of us live in Tennessee?

Here, you have to be on a waiting list to get the roadkill.

Majority of our grocery $$$ goes to milk, bread, cereal, juice, etc. One kid is gluten free and although we mostly make all her stuff from scratch, occasionally we buy gluten free items that are pricey (frozen waffles, gluten free cookies and bread at Great Harvest, etc). We actually don't even eat meat at every meal-tonight we had Mama Shannon's mac and cheese, cole slaw and my soon-to-be world famous cornbread...
