So, after years of atheism, I'm surprised to report I've found God. The most surprising part? God isn't a magic invisible Creator. God isn't a thunder-voiced curmudgeon who got His panties in a wad one time and flooded the world. God isn't Jesus's dad. Nope. Turns out, God is right here. In Tennessee. In fact, God is Tennesseans. Yep, God is us. Specifically, God is the taxpayers. www.timesfreepress.com/absolutenm/templates/content.aspx?articleid=13834&zoneid=83* * * Hunger pains Saturday, April 14, 2007 TENNESSEE MONTHLY FOOD STAMP PARTICIPATION By Dave Flessner Staff Writer MONTEAGLE, Tenn. -- With only a part-time job at her church to support her three children, Tammie Scott is among a growing number of Tennesseans who rely on food stamps and subsidized school meals to feed their families. "I know the Lord will always provide for me," the Monteagle mother said.

(Either that, or I'm way off base, and what the woman means when she says "I know the Lord will always provide for me" is that God makes money magically appear on her EBT card. How miraculous!)

The Lord obviously does not provide her with pride. Is she too uneducated to understand birth control? Is she too uneducated to work for a living? Or is she just happy to live off the taxpayers teat, and doesn't give a shit?

...and also, if you read the article, down at the bottom is a photo, with the following caption:
Grundy County resident Tammie Scott has been enrolled on the food stamp program for about 10 years and now relies on the program to feed her three children. Ms. Scott receives more than $400 per month in food stamp assistance.
I thought they had cutoffs on the amount of time you could get assistance, or am I thinking welfare-to-work??

Sometimes, you can just sense God's head nodding back and forth.
