And you will soon have the same health care quality they do.

Every American has equal access to healthcare right now.

Riiiight... You just keep telling yourself that. That is less believable than the Death Panels pulling the plug on granny.

Every American is free to live in such a way as to be financially stable and to allocate their resources in such a way as to be able to afford health care. If you choose not to stay in school, if you choose to treat your body poorly, whether through chemicals or diet, if you choose to spend your money on cable TV or flashy cars, and you cannot afford health care, I have no sympathy for you. You have the same opportunity as everyone else. So, you're a minority? So what, many minorities are successful, why aren't you? The man holding you down? The man can only hold you down if you let him.
There are some who truly cannot help themselves, due to injury or disability. For these, certainly lets have some sort of safety net. But the majority of people who do not have insurance or cannot afford health care (or any other services too many people are calling "rights" when they are not) are in that situation because of poor decisions made by themselves or their parents or both. I for one see no good coming from rewarding those sorts of behaviors and encouraging future generations to make the same sorts of mistakes. The role of the government is (or should be) to give people the opportunity to provide for themselves what they need, not to provide those needs directly.

Health care may not be a right, but IT IS necessary. Daworm's post above sounds perfectly reasonable and right, but it shouldn't take such a large portion of a family's income to provide for themselves this necessity. What was barely attainable a few years ago(pre-9/11), has now become unreachable for many families.
The world needs ditch diggers to, and they shouldn't have to play health care roulette just because they are in the lower income range. I can't imagine just going to work, coming home and eating beans every night, and just sitting on the porch till bedtime, leading a hollow and uneventful life(no offense LR), just to free up enough money to purchase a necessary thing like health insurance.
I would be happy if they could just make it more affordable. Within the range of the unemployed poor.

I would be happy if they could just make it more affordable. Then get the government out of it. Since they're the biggest reason it's so expensive, it's pure insanity to think they could make it cheaper. Within the range of the unemployed poor. Why?
