I have some dutch black licorice (droop, pronounced drup) that I can't eat. I love it, but unfortunately it is made with wheat, so I'm kinda SOL on one of my favorite candies. Any other black licorice lovers here? I even have a box of mix someone could use to make their own....

No problem:-D I'm just depressed I can't eat it myself. I LOVE this stuff.
(damn gluten intolerance took away another favorite thing)

I've tried that stuff before (I'm Dutch)... and it's aweful. It's not like your typical licorice. No offense... I'm sure there are many people who like it, but you gotta be a die hard licorice fan.

If you're dutch, does that mean you also know about chocolate toast?

Yeah!! Isn't that crazy... not sure why that hasn't really taken off here in the states. The chocolate spread is alright. But what I remember (from a year of college up in Iowa - big Dutch comm.) being good is the chocolate sprinkles on buttered toast... (there may have been another ingredient) and it was good. Course, my favorite breakfast is a chocolate chip waffle from Waffle House

I'm intrigued about the mix. Is that something I can find locally or mail order?

Don't know Justin, it came from my folks.
Conservator, were you in Pella by chance? If so, we gotta talk.
Yeah, the chocolate sprinkles are the shizzle! Back before I couldn't eat bread I did the same thing. Also loved Stroopwaffeln with my morning coffee. Mmmmmmm.

Ahh yes... stroopawaffles (sp?). Sugar coated waffles... breakfast of champions.
I was in Sioux Center... about an hour from Sioux City & Sioux Falls. NW IA is the coldest place on the face of the earth.

Ok, so I don't have to check too closely to see how many members of my family you tried to date.
Stroopwaffle... carmelized honey waffles best served after they've rested a little over steaming coffee or been nuked for 10 seconds. Mmmmm
Oh, and dutch letters.
and Pella Bologna.
None of which I can eat now.

LOL you owe me nothing, just enjoy it for me.
Yeah, it's the real deal. Most folk that think they like black licorice after having twizzlers have no idea....

Twizzlers aren't licorice, no matter what it may say on the box.

I've had to give it up, too, because of the expensive threat to dental work. Oh, well...
