If I didn't hate crowds so much I'd actually go see CCR (Cross Candian Ragweed), they ROCK! But alas, I hate crowds MUCH more than I like CCR.

This a fantastic line-up...Jeff Beck,Clutch,John Prine,Stevie Wonder,Les Claypool,Steve Martin(?!). And CCR,who are a terribly average "Red Dirt" band.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, including you and me. IMHO CCR is BY FAR the best act in the ENTIRE Bonnaroo line-up. Head and shoulders above all of the other acts combined. Well except for maybe Steve Martin, dude plays the shit outta a banjo!

again,.. i understand the "opinions are like,..." talk
but this is the biggest & baddest music festival in the country and can make an argument in the world.
I'm not saying there's not good music in this line-up. This line-up is loaded w/ good music.
but 10's of thousands of people wait for months,... counting down the days, minutes, seconds for this line-up announcement every year & it's by far the highest ticket price in the country.
DMB, Lips, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, Ten. D, Weezer in the "headliners" slot
Amos, Forgerty, Avett Bros., Prine, Black Keys, Kristofferson, Jeff Beck playing the "secondary" roles
the interesting "old school" & what the? picks like Might be Giants, GWAR, Clutch, Melvins, Steve martin, Blues Traveler
and then plenty electronic & jam band stuff to satisify all those folks.
it's a neat line-up. For Wakarusa,... or Coachella,... not bonnaroo. it's fails on the "wow" factor and it miserably fails on the "how could you not go" factor.
there will be a few good additions probably on the way.
that being said. I'll see you there.

Do you need for me to 'house-sit' while you're away?
Feed the kitties or the hamster?
Collect the paper? check the mail?
Screw all your doors and windows shut with aircraft-grade fasteners?
Infuse the house with liquid nitrogen?
Kill your grass with gasoline?
Paint the street in front of your house bright red?
Hmm?

Too many words, how about I just call him Steve Martin. And Jason Boland and The Stragglers have just released a new album. Here's a link to their new video. A remake of a Classic Country song, Tulsa Time. It kicks ass!!!!! Roger Ray sure can make that lap steel talk! thestragglers.com/?pg=news&newsId=23

turns out after 8 straight years I will not be attending 'roo this year.
Riverbend is very solid this year and the 'roo line-up is less appealing everytime I look at it.
Conan O'Brien & Stevie Wonder are my only real reasons to be there and I can't justify how much money, time, & effort it takes to take on that giant situation.
It's a damn shame.

I think its cool to finally, after years and years of forum participation, to see someone bashing Bonnaroo and praising Riverbend. I ought to put this in the "firsts" thread.

I think its cool to finally, after years and years of forum participation, to see someone bashing Bonnaroo and praising Riverbend. I ought to put this in the "firsts" thread. > Dave Matthews Band - Past their prime. Will be at Riverbend soon. » Kings of Leon - As Fergie would say "Sooo two thousand and late..." » Stevie Wonder - Riverbend material. » Jay-Z - Will he play his greatest hit? » Tenacious D - Blah. Tired act. Dio is dead. » Weezer - Ah, alright. » The Flaming Lips with Stardeath and White Dwarfs perform Dark Side of the Moon - Zzzzzz. » The Dead Weather - Huh? » Damian Marley and Nas - Nas keeps it real 'yo. And its not far for Henry County. » Phoenix - Love their car comercial songs. » Norah Jones - Ah, ok. » Michael Franti & Spearhead - Hey mamma! One catchy song. » John Fogerty - Should sack-tap CCR (Ragweed) for stealing his idea. » Regina Spektor - Looks at the calendar and it is not 2003. » Jimmy Cliff - Regae and stoners, go figure. » LCD Soundsystem - Wonder if they will play the song from Stepbrothers. » The Avett Brothers - Good band. » Thievery Corporation - Huh? » Rise Against - One of two good songs if taken as ironic lyrics. » Tori Amos - Litith Fair fell though? » Les Claypool - Annoying. » The Black Keys - Cool. » Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers - If he was playing riverbend, if he were in a different context, people would mock this. » Jeff Beck - Wow 90 minutes of guitar noodling. » Dropkick Murphys - Liked him better in Fastway. » She & Him » Against Me! - Whoops confused them with Against Me. » Daryl Hall and Chromeo - No Oats, No Can Do. » Kris Kristofferson - Wow. Is this the Lake Winepasuka tour? » They Might Be Giants - They might be past thier prime. » Blitzen Trapper - Good. » Blues Traveler - Fat Blues Traveler or Skinny Blues Traveller? I want a discount if it is skinny blues traveler. » Calexico - I like Mexicali better. » OK Go - Only if they have the treamills. » Cross Canadian Ragweed - Should be cock-punched by Fogerty. » Carolina Chocolate Drops - Is this like a Cleveland Steamer? » Tokyo Police Club - Random generated name? » Local Natives - The Redundants? » Mumford & Sons - More like Sanford and Sons, am I right? » Rebelution - Spelled Revolution wrong. » Diane Birch - Spelled Bitch Wrong? » Monte Montgomery - I bet he got beat up in school. » Julia Nunes - How long is this list? » The Postelles - My band's name is the Fontenalles. » Needtobreathe I'd have to sit though 15 hours of Needtobreath type bands around stinking hippies to see 30 minutes of Black Keys. No thanks!

wow! that's a pretty detailed post.
can't argue w/ much of it. probably can't argue w/ any of it
1/2 the fun of 'roo is the scene itself. I've had as much fun just being there as actually seeing music. The more I think about not going. The more it is upsetting me.
I've also heard that ticket sales are crazy down. like 20k down.

I like him. Not enough to go to Bonnaroo for, but I like him.
As for the rest, I guess I'm old. I don't recognize 2/3 of them.

The economy is affecting everyone. As far as hanging out, I am sure that's why most go to Riverbend. I am not sure how comprehensive the list is. I've seen other indie bands list this year's Bonnaroo on their websites schedules.

I'm heading to the Exit Inn in Nashville on Sat to see Jason Boland and The Stragglers. Have been waiting on them to come this way for a LONG time. I just missed them in Dallas last fall while I was there.

I agree with most of the professor's list too... except for the very end. Needtobreathe is an up & coming band that rocks. Funny that they kick the whole thing off...
Check out their song "Girl Named Tennessee" - good stuff. If it doesn't make you tap your toe your a gimp.

Not bad. I think music is overdue for some sort of renassiance. There are a lot of good unknown bands out there. I've subscribed to KEXP's "Song of the Day" podcast and downloaded about 500 good free songs. Because of the podcast I have a ton of new favorites.

Jeff Beck would be awesome to see. But he's playing Atlanta soon I'll wait to see him their. This is the weakest line-up for roo, but good. Now who's going to start the Rbend sucks thread this year. Might go to see Uriah Heep. Notify CPD because I'm bringing da funk.

Uriah Heap and P-Funk are my two nostalgia picks for this year. None of the headliners really grab me. I'll probably catch a bit of Allison Kraus.

never been to the 'Roo, and as many times as Riverbend has been here over the years, i can promise i have been there 4 days out of all the years.
i can see all that shit on Youtube here at home, no drunks, no punk ass kids, no people standing everywhere blocking all attempts to change my location, no hot ass sticky grimy weather, no fighting traffic and most of all, im not wasting one red cent.
