I felt like experimenting a bit for lunch. I had one gourd squash and one sweet potato to work with. I cubed both into a baking dish and tossed in some masala spice. Then I added a handful of raisins and a pinch of hard cheeses and baked it till the squash was soft.
Not bad, but the masala mix isn't ideal. I think it would work better with a tex-mex type spice mix instead. A nice red pepper and garlic base perhaps.

I was hoping this thread would be more related to the "Bars" area instead op the "Food" area.

PPpfffttt. I don't do bars, anymore. Single people at bars are a little pathetic, but I think bars are still a good place to meet and hang out a little with people you know and like, but don't quite want them over to your house.

My goodness, that describes 97.4% of people I've ever met.

Getting back to the squash; I don't think a garam masala (or any masala mix) is ideal if you're using hard cheese. Omit the latter, add a little butter, a chopped chili and last minute cilantro and you have a little Indian veggie. For something more Mediterranean, try tossing the veggies w olive oil (a little salt) maybe some shitake mushrooms and yr choice of herb ( oregano, thyme, marjoram) and sprinkle w the cheese while hot out of the oven. Butternut & acorn are particularly good this way (made some last night).

The kitchen is a great laboratory for experimentation. Gee, hope you didn't write from the desk of a city/county job.
