Let's say that I practice weekly with my trusty Siblotzski 9.3mm pistol.
Let's say I have a wall safe at home that I keep a substantial amount of cash in and I want to leave a gun in the safe just in case.
Do I put a Siblotzski 9.3mm pistol in the safe because I'm very familiar with one and practice with one weekly or would I want a different weapon in there because of some reason I haven't thought of that would make that other weapon a superior choice for one of those just in case moments. If it's another weapon, what would that weapon be and why?

I think you should take the money in the safe and buy another weapon. This will give you a gun for the safe while removing the risk of the safe money getting stolen. Win-win!

having an old gun that is reliable and you know how it use it is better than not having one.
with that said. there are plenty of options out there that you could upgrade to. it all depends on what you are looking for. revolver or semi-auto, caliber, grip, how it feels in your hand, compact, sub-compact, full sized handgun, high capacity mags.
if it is used strictly for home defense I would recommend a full sized handgun with a large capacity magazine and one that has an integral rail so that you could attach a weapon mounted light system to it (b/c you have to ID your target).
you have many choices for semi-auto's: -S&W has the M&P series as well as their new SD line. -Springfield armory's XD or XDm line. -any Glock. -Sig Sauer has several options. -CZ's have an excellent reputation.
For a Handgun that will be used for home defense I recommend the following. (these are not in any specific order)
-High capacity -ability to add a weapon mounted light -reliability -accessibility -user comfort/shootablity (how good do you shoot it) -two or three spare reloads that are quickly accessible -a standard caliber (.38 special, .357 magnum, 9mm, 40S&W, 45acp) I personally do not like the ballistics of the .380acp and do not recommend it, I would take a Russian surplus 9x18 makrov over a .380, this is my personal opinion.
you also should factor in the cost of ammunition as well as how easy is it going to be to find your ammo for training.

If it's another weapon, what would that weapon be and why? What kind of trick question is this? 1. If you had a wall safe with large amounts of cash, would you advertise this on a message board? 2. Why such a specific example? 3. Why lock the gun in a cash safe? You are protecting your home and life, not necessarily cash and a gun locked into a super secure safe. Do you want to be screwing around with a difficult safe when the zombies come for your cash? 4. Somehome locking what you are protecting and the means to protect it in the same place seems odd to me. If you are at the point of having to open the safe for your gun, you cash is unsecure. :-) I have the feeling this is some sort of trick question.

a local business where i used to work had a safe on site. the owner always kept a substantial amount of cash in the safe. also, in the safe on each of the 3 levels were loaded pistols. so if anyone ever came in to force him to open the safe, the way the safe opened, it made the inside contents impossible to see because of the way the safe door opened versus the entry point to the room.
gimmie ur money would be dealt with a bang bang your ass is shot as the same motion of removing the money is the same as pulling the gun out and handing you a lead sammich.
