Does anyone know anybody who will be able to move a Gun safe which could be delivered to curbside by freight, taken in and set up in a drive out basement? Nobody in town who sells a safe (at atrocious prices) is willing to deliver and set up. So I can order one of the better ones online. But need a company or someone with heavy moving equipment to move it inside. After a recent cervical spine fusion, I am not even going the appliance dolly route myself. The safe apparently weighs 1000# or so.

there is supposed to be/or there was a company in trenton GA that delivers, they used to run some "scratch and dent" sales on the radio/tv a few years ago. but I cannot remember their name!
some online locations offer delivery also. from what I understand Liberty safe co is american made and they supposedly have excellent customer service...
sorry I cannot offer any more assistance right now.

Randy's Pawn Shop is who you are thinking of.If you go the online route you could call Two Men and a Truck to move it inside.

call a few locksmiths and ask them as they install cash safes in local businesses. some of those things weigh in at over 500 to 600 pounds.

Cadillacdude, you're out of work, I'm out of work. I've got a truck and experience moving heavy things. I'm old but my back is still in decent shape as long as my knees hold up. How about you?

Well I am not opposed to a bunch of guys heavy-ho ing it. I would suggest some form of mechanical help nevertheless. It is heavy. The price ought to be decent. And I will help also. I dont want anybody hurt in the process.

Aviator, I don't do heavy lifting, I do heavy moving. It's amazing what one can do with a half dozen 3' long ½" galvanized water pipes and a pry bar. However, I was teasing Cadillacdude more than anything. I live in Lawrenceville, GA and, while I have no aversion to hiring myself out for such a job, I the distance involved in my getting there is just too great.
BTW, do you fly out of 1A0?

BTW, do you fly out of 1A0? Enough I guess. Have her hangared there. Do spend some time hangin out at the airport hangar flyin... My last flight was on 5/5/2001. I was sitting in the pilots lounge planning my flight and doing some hangar flying with a couple of the old timers there. Joe Joels was a flight instructor there at that time and he had just been mugged about a month earlier. He had gotten himself a Walther 10mm pistol and his carry permit and brought it into the pilots lounge to show it off. Before all was said and done there were seven guns pulled out between six people and I wasn't carrying. One old guy pulled a .22 Derringer out of his pocket with the barrel full of lint. Yes, it was loaded. All the guns were. The irony of sitting in an airport pilots lounge with all those guns around me was not lost.

man i have moved some heavy shit in my days. when i was younger, i worked on a delivery truck that was a contractor to JC penny's and all they sold was solid oak furniture. top that off, it was delivering in the hermitage TN area in those multi million dollar homes.
what made it really bad was 7 out of the 10 homes, you had to take your shoes off and move that stuff barefoot. god forbid you get a footprint in one of those houses.
