I would have taken the plea, too. Gotta figure the cost of probation is way cheaper then hiring a lawyer and risking seeing a biased judge. He had an attorney. Probably the best in town for DUIs. If I had a DUI and was innocent I would want the best DUI attorney in town also.

If anything he'll have to live his life knowing he's a drunk and got away with attempted murder. As long as his alcoholic ass no longer gets to wear a badge the public will be safe.

I wonder if AB is going to call community corrections (again) to see if he can work off his dept to society at the Sheriff's Office? I know there are some areas of the County that require speed reduction. Maybe he could write tickets?

What? You think he should be fired for reckless driving? Of course he got to keep his job. He didn't do anything to get fired over.

Standards in lower education, apparently.
Is this the "venom" you alluded to over in "Last Person Out"?

Tsavo, old sport, that was poor little buttercup's 1st post. She hadn't alluded to anything previously. I, ahem, had mentioned venom in "Last Person Out".
Reading is fundamental.

I do know Mr. Fulmer. He is an alcoholic. On what do you base this diagnosis? And if he is an alcoholic that doesn't mean he was intoxicated the night of this accident. The court dismissed the DUI for a reason. The prosecution must have felt they couldn't prove the DUI charge or they wouldn't have dropped it. Even the best DUI lawyer can't get a client lose if the evidence is solid.

Evidence + Investigation - ( mitigation + exculpation) = Liability.

Here we go again, another cop drinking. Wonder if he will use the same lawyer as Mr. Fulmer. CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- A veteran Chattanooga Police officer remains suspended with pay while Internal Affairs investigators await results of blood alcohol tests to determine whether he was drunk while on duty the last night of Riverbend. But Chief Bobby Dodd says Steven Jones may not be the only officer to face disciplinary action.

Just in folks, just checked the courts records and here is what it says that Mr. Fulmer received: Guilty - Plea 5/23/2012 VIP PROGRAM, 5 DAYS COMMUNITY SERVICE $50.00 Judgment of 6 Months , Suspended on Good Behavior, Defendant Place on Probation What is VIP Program? I guess you have to be a cop to get this, never seen this one before in all my 59 years.

The smell of alcohol on someone's breath does NOT mean they are "drunk on duty". The media needs to get that straight --- not that I think they will, but they should.

If I was charged w/ DUI and was GUILTY I would also have the best DUI attorney in town. Exactly! Choosing a good DUI attorney to defend you from a DUI has no bearing on whether or not you are guilty, just whether or notyou are smart.

I know this is going to receive some bad responses and that is okay, but an update. Mr. Fulmer did not receive his Job back but was offered a job in the jail. News is that he is taking the Sheriff to court this month to get his job back, since he was only found guilty of wreckless driving.

just curious, JF1, but why do you care so much about this particular officer?

Wreckless driving is generally a good thing.

Yoda, if the implication is that I'm for the officer getting his fingertips smacked, that's not the case. If it was up to me he would have been terminated. My curiosity is inspired by Mr. Phillips' persistent following of this particular case. There have been others, some not long before Mr. Fulmer, and some since, but those don't seem to hold nearly as much interest for him. As I said, I'm simply curious about the importance of this particular officer to him - brother-in-law, old roommate, got the job JP1 should have had, dating JP1's (ex)wife, neighbor with the better yard, etc., etc. That he's so persistent about this one officer while ignoring others can't help but suggest that there may some personal connection and fuel my curiosity about the connection.

Blood alcohol level was.014 and now he got another chance to serve and suspended again without pay. Give your shield back.
