President Barack Obama is dismissing Republican presidential candidates who argue the nation needs a massive increase in oil drilling to reduce high gas prices. The president says in Maryland that the U.S. is producing more oil than at any time in the past eight years and has quadrupled the number of operating oil rigs. GOP candidates seeking the White House have criticized the sharp rise in gas prices on Obama's watch. The average retail price for a gallon of gas was $3.81 on Wednesday, 50 cents higher than a month ago. Obama compares the arguments of his critics to an old movie or TV show. He says, "It's like a bad re-run." www.wrcbtv.com/story/17166197/obama-defends-energy-record

It's the markets causing high gas prices; the president has nothing to do with it. Great Britain is looking at $10/gal gas.

Funny how when President Bush was in office, all the demoncrats blamed him for high oil/gas prices. It should be noted and seared into each party's memories: the President has almost ERO affect on gas prices. Short of starting a war, there is little a president can do to make gas prices go up or down.

Yeah and every wingnut in the primary is hanging it on Obama. Which made him make the dumbass move to open the reserves. Name me all the people on Dick Cheney's energy committee and the Bush/Cheney energy policy during their tenure. Good luck they won't release it even after court order. So what comes around goes arpund. Get the BI Lo card with fuel perks. I paid 44 cents a gallon yesterday .

It's about the only campaign promise that he has kept when he promised that energy costs would skyrocket under his tenure.

Funny how that revisionist history works. It seems back then people were blaming oil companies and speculators, just like last year.
I missed that campaign promise. Maybe he only made it in Alaska.

"Funny how that revisionist history works. It seems back then people were blaming oil companies and speculators, just like last year." Either you have a very poor memory or you are a blatant liar. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQb_4hXLx2Q

Then I must have a poor memory, but as I don't YouTube I won't have any idea what your retort is unless you have a text story to post.
