beth, no shit? "Two months of investigation" is already more then has gone into ridding the city of gangs. All they have done in the name of gangs is to award a politician and his wife (The Ochs Center) $75,000 dollars to study them. "...unknown man power and unknown tax dollars..." And you are letting your imaginations run wild. "Two months of investigation" is all we have to go on here. Care to elaborate what that means?

unbelievable. old men playing poker warrants a raid?!! anyone who thinks this isn't about money isn't paying attention. all these departments want the money and cars seized under these nonsense asset forfeiture laws- this is why they try catching the drug dealers as they drive back into Mexico- they want the money, not the drugs. the cops are gonna argue that these cars and computers and moneys were used to commit the heinous crime of gambling, so this stuff should be forfeited to the state. they'll auction off the stuff and keep all the cash from the auction and all the cash seized in the raid, then they'll look for the next 'criminal enterprise' they can raid to get more 'assets'. A police department in Michigan was using all the money and property they were seizing to pay for trips, hookers, gambling parties, etc. Other departments use the money for big screen tv's and other toys. Crazy.

They just need to feel lucky that Bobby Dodd got them instead of Hammond's heros. He would have activated the 1gig internet line from his a** to all the local news media and since they were business owners he would have exposed them all. He would have brought in the helicopter, all the court house lawn cops,,,,wait a minute isn't he over 60, time for retirement.

You have it correct, it is a "rag". I don't promote nor look at it. Only in Chattanooga, when I lived in Atlanta this story would have never seen the light of day. I just don't understand why the local news is working so hard to destroy this city. My friend from Utah was planning on coming to our city but heard about all the gang issues we have here and changed their plans.

When you really, really, really, really try to sell it? Kinda like they do for the Tennessee Lottery. Title 39 Criminal Offenses Chapter 17 Offenses Against Public Health, Safety and Welfare Part 5 Gambling TCA § 39-17-504 (2012) 39-17-504. Aggravated gambling promotion. (a) A person commits an offense who knowingly invests in, finances, owns, controls, supervises, manages or participates in a gambling enterprise. (b) For purposes of this section, "gambling enterprise" means two (2) or more persons regularly engaged in gambling promotion as defined in § 39-17-503. (c) The offense of aggravated gambling promotion is a Class E felony.

It is strange that our city's finest would go after these otherwise fine Chattanoogans. But there has to be a reason. They did not bribe the right people.

The next place to raid if Church bingo games, they usually play for cakes and pies. How about super bowl parties all of the state usually u can find bets on scores and who makes the first points. Also, lets enforce the law that says on spitting in public. Its on the books. How about the ones on prostitution unless you are a member of the presidents secret service and out of the country. Laws on littering are ignored unless the police was to harass someone. Out laws are subject to the whims of those in power. The enforcement is not based on the highest and best use of resources or tax money required nor is it based on victimless or amount of harm to the community. The only way to have some effect if the statue quo does not agree with your morals is to vote for or against the person that can change t he way your tax money is spent, starting at the department that you feel needs to be [glow=red,2,300]changed. My question is why hasn't the local news jumped out there with their team coverage and went to each one of their homes with cameras, then their business, then plastered their photos on TV. I say enough is enough, leave these folks alone, you got the MONEY $26k. By the way where did it go? I feel the police department should have to disclose what happens to it.

It's a thing called "evidence", jeffrey, until all the cases are concluded in a Court of final resort. Check back with us, say, about when hell freezes after that

"Two months of investigation" is all we have to go on here. Care to elaborate what that means?
It means that officers were investigating the situation for two months along with THOUSANDS of other cases during the same time-frame. To think/believe that officers/investigators spent every minute of every day over a two month period on this case alone is poor critical thinking skills.
