East Ridge Police have placed Officer Sean Merriman on paid administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.
This comes after the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 8300 block of Blue Spruce Dr. in Middle Valley involving Officer Merriman's personal vehicle.
A hit & run traffic crash was reported at approximately 2:35 a.m. Friday morning. Deputies arrived on scene to find a parked Chevrolet S-10 Pickup truck had been struck.
The suspect vehicle left the scene but officers were able to follow a fuel trail to an address in the 8100 block of Blue Spruce Road where they found a 2004 Jeep Cherokee parked with heavy damage.
