Placed an order with Amazon on Sunday, 5/6. Item was in stock but it didn't ship until today. Expected delivery date is next Thursday, 5/17. ... And it's coming from Cleveland.

Meanwhile, I bought a chair on buy.com on Thursday with free shipping. Expected delivery in 5-10 days. It was on my porch yesterday afternoon.

So there you have it, JC. It's a conspiracy at Amazon to make your stuff take so long to ship. They must have your name flagged:-D

Apparently so Their policy states that large items can take longer to pull but it's a pretty regularly shipped item (it's a 9 foot roll of seamless paper) so it shouldn't have taken five days to ship. I also expect an extra day, maybe two in shipping time for the Fedex/USPS Smartpost crap, but sheesh... another f'ing week for a 25 mile trip? I could have walked my crippled ass down there and picked it up quicker then this.

It does not surprise me. We ordered Donna a new phone through her service. It shipped (By truck the whole way) from Indy to Atlanta to Nashville to Chattanooga.
Yep the phone passed through Chattanooga TWICE before we got it on its third trip to the scenic city.

Amazon took 5 days to ship it. USPS AND Fedex (Smart Post) are responsible for the 6 day, 25 mile journey. www.fedex.com/us/smart-post/outbound.htmlHad I known Smart Post was going to be used, I would have ordered from somewhere else. This is beyond redonkulous.

They're both better than UPS.

Hit order, log off computer and tell yourself it's coming from China. Maybe you'll get it next week.

its that great temp service attitude Where you BEEN brudda?!? Playing Battle Pirates on Facebook, a highly addictive and immensely popular game that I swore I would never play, the server has been not responding lately during peak times so I's came back here to let you know that I am still alive, and although from time to time my bases and fleets get destroyed and my research and developement can get set back for days and even weeks, I find it much less frustrating than having even the simplest of posts deleted. Oh, and how have you been?

Amazon's expected delivery dates are often way off, I have found. I usually get them well before the estimated date.
That being said, if you do the super saver shipping, you will seemingly wait completely random periods of time before they ship the item. I've had them go out right away, and I've waited over a week. I've also gone 'round and 'round with them on the fact that their webpage says in BOLDFACE for Super Saver that "Your order will be delivered within 5-8 business days." **DELIVERED**.. not shipped. Many times they have not made that timeframe and they make the same excuses "items may not be in stock, shipping is slower for super saver, blah blah". The fact is there are no conditions on their promise, it says it will be delivered in 5-8 business days, period. It's still on their website, and it's b.s.

One issue to consider with anything ordered through Amazon; is it being fulfilled by Amazon or by a third party? Third party fulfillment has different arrival date parameters vs. Amazon fulfilled orders. This even applies to Amazon Prime Member orders fulfilled by a third party. Trust me, I'm a Prime Member and I have experienced wide variances in shipping times with third party fulfillment. That being said, as far as my experience goes, Amazon fulfilled orders have been spot on.

I've never had a problem with anything Amazon has shipped directly or through their third partner vendors. Most of the time it comes well before the expected delivery date. However, anything that has ever been shipped via Smart Post has always been late.
