(WRCB) - The mother of Hannah Barnes, killed last August in a train accident, has filed a $25 million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against the family of the man Hannah was with when she died. Lisa Barnes filed the complaint in Hamilton County Circuit Court last week. The suit names Hennen Restaurant Group LLC, Tim Hennen, Corrine McDonald Hennen, Michael Luhowiak, McDonald Farms LLC, and Norfolk Southern Railway Company as defendants. The 17-page complaint alleges the Hennens provided Hannah Barnes with alcohol at a birthday party at their downtown restaurant. Barnes claims the Hennens knew her daughter was 19-years-old, under the legal drinking age, because she was an employee of the business. www.wrcbtv.com/story/19148713/hannah-barnes-mother-files-25-million-wrongful-death-suit-in-train-deaths

Why doesn't she sue the family of the man her daughter was with??? The railroad did nothing wrong. Yeah, they can't stop on a dime.

There's a good lessen to be learned here, folks.
Don't drink and nap on railroad tracks. Expect warning labels to be placed on railroad track forthwith.
Oh, and don't forget that hot coffee is hot.

The lawyers will make some good dollars off this. Dad always wanted me to be a lawyer as "they get a cut of everything".

Lawyers are only tools! Lawyers don't sue people; people sue people!
Aside from this poor mother's loss, her suiit makes her appear to be a vulture.

This lawsuit is a classic example of the Deep Pockets Theory.

I don't understand how the mother says; that he led her daughter to the crossing an convinced her to lie down there.

I don't understand how the mother says; that he led her daughter to the crossing an convinced her to lie down there. The lawyer showed pictures of Snidley Whiplash.

What did the picture of Snidley show??? Was it taken before or after?? One picture, two picture? And if she had a picture, why didn't she stop it?

Whoever the attorney was who advised her, it's obvious that s/he laid out every possible angle for a lawsuit, no matter how much of a stretch, knowing full well that the chances of winning even one were fairly remote. I just hope the mother realizes this.

I hope she has to pay court costs for this frivolous bit of rip-offery.

If you could wager on it in Vegas, you could win a ton if you bet that this will be settled out of court. It will be. No where near the 25 million, but it will be. No one stands to gain with the publicity from a trial. All parties listed as defendants (read insurance companies and railroads) will put their legal teams together and come up with an offer that will eventually be accepted by the plaintiff. It's a shame, but it will be less costly dollar wise and reputation wise rather than going to trial.

Absolutely the most likely outcome, her lawyers will collect 30%-40% and everyone is happy to some degree. Especially her lawyers.

Crazy how society has to always put the blame on someone else... Someones got to pay for my child's stupidity. Down the road I wonder if we as a community can one day sue the parents of certain kids for not raising them well...?

I'm sure the train conductor could probably sue the parents for mental anguish brought on by their incompetence in raising their children.
Settle it out of court for however much she gets out of her lawsuit.
