(From an email)
City Council Meeting Tomorrow, January 22, for Boy Scout Road/153 Rezone!
The City Council voted at its January 8 meeting to defer a decision on this rezoning case for two weeks to give the developer time to address concerns shared by Council and the community. On Tuesday, January 22, the Council will vote on this zoning case, making a final decision to approve or deny. As a community we need to pack this meeting set for 6pm and stand together as we have for over a year.
The compelling editorial in Sunday's Times Free Press does a great job of emphasizing why this plan still does not work. The time is now to turn out in force at City Council. SEE YOU ALL AT 5:30PM or before, and thank you on behalf of the Hixson community. Proudly wear your green Don't Chop The Hilltop shirts. Council deserves to see us all united, and will count the numbers of supporters once again.

The property owner is willing to chance the costs of developing his/her personal property & stands to make quite a bit of $$$ (or lose money, too). If people want to keep this property from being developed, they should band together, raise money & offer a price that reflects the property's future value should it be developed. Too many others have been permitted the ability to develop their properties to single this one out & treat him like a whipping boy....

Kordax, as long as zoning regulations aren't altered to the benefit of this property owner over the expense of surrounding property owners I fully agree with you. But if deals are cut to change the zoning in ways that are detrimental to the surrounding property owners this development should fail. After all, all property owners have property rights, not just the developers.

Now since it has not been rezoned, It CAN become a neighborhood with as many as BY LAW OF THE CURRENT ZONING, 4 houses per acre of land. According to available land, terrain, and needed infrastructure look for over 400+ houses to be built on the property.
Careful what you ask for, sometimes you just may get it.

Sounds like another IHOP fiasco. No one living in that immediate area lives there for the peace and quiet and low traffic.
