Bobby Dodd staying as Chattanooga police chief by Judy Walton Under Mayor Andy Berke, crime fighting and public safety in Chattanooga will be a joint effort. Berke unveiled the outline of his public safety strategy Friday and announced that he has asked Police Chief Bobby Dodd to stay on as head of the city department. The mayor said he and his team brought together ideas from within the community and across the country to come up with a comprehensive public safety plan. "Our streets are too dangerous. We have to make them safer," Berke said in an interview Friday. Chip Baker must have gave Berke the green light. Good deal.

"Chip Baker must have gave Berke the green light."
You have no idea just how WRONG your belief in this is. Mr. Baker has learned the harsh reality of pushing too hard....

And I forgot to say that I think this is good news for the department.

I guess before Mayor Berke was elected, Chattanooga's entire policing philosophies must have all collectively been junk & crud, they must have been archaic & antiquated remnants of a time when unenlightened, cruel & unusual policies were celebrated... Now that we "have the courage to change", the gangbanger & the junior leaguer will lie together just like the lamb & the lion

I think that was the theme of a movie that a friend of mine had playing during his bachelor party.
Berke's made some promises and he's floated some good initiatives. I think he's made a good decision keeping the Chief in place. I'll be interested to see his follow through.
