Expanding on your technique would be appropriate.

That would be the "go to someone elses house" option and I would move to a different apartment complex.

As long as FunGrill... er... I mean FunGirl is around, I'll leave the grilling to the experts.

I picked propane, but actually use natural gas (house gas). I have a pipe, cutoff valve, and quick disconnect hose running from my house to my grill. I had to change the jets to use natural gas, but I never have to refill the tank. Aromatic hardwood in a steel bowl with some water can be used if you want, but I usually don't bother.

Charcoal only, and I do NOT mean fucking pressed and formed petroleum products added briquets. I do use the hardwood chunks if I am long cooking something, no need if just searing some steaks.

"Cut off its horns and wipe its ass." A bunch of charcoal seems rather wasteful. (gas & wood chips)
"We likes it raw and wriggly!"
Two movies....wow!

Even though I guess it is not healthy (heck, your eating a hot dog anyway) I prefer charcoal 100% over anything else.

I prefer charcoal/hardwood but the convienence of walk out back, throwing a match at the Fungrill and eating with in just a few minutes is too great to bother with charcoal.... my dream is a big green egg.....ooooooohhhhh yeah!

I grill--sometimes daily--and found that the key is knowing 'your' grill. Every grill has slightly different settings and by volume, key placement for different items being cooked. Some are centered, others are closer to the side, others are on the high rack taking in ambient heat while soaking in a stick of buttah in a pan made from modified aluminum foil.
As for charcoal? Smells great, butt fuck cooking with it. It's great for cooking one thing one way, but without heat adjustment or a small loan--that shit is just too cost prohibitive now, too. Two bags for, what, two to four sessions costs the same as one tank that lasts about 50 sessions for me.
"It's worth it being done right", blah blah blah--sure, if you grill once a month, maybe twice, it's just too limited for me. I grill vegetables, meat, poultry, and charcoal is too much of a pain in the ass.
And yep--the hardwood chips work fine, but I usually buy meat of such quality I don't need to mask its cheapness with smoke, seasonings, and sauces. (My Life For You, 'Fresh Market'.)

I love the fresh market meat...we had new york strips from there the other night on the "gas" grill and they were fabulous!!!!

I can offer a comparison to settle the obvious.
Personally, both are winners.
