Anyone have any "e's" I could buy? Two Bloody Marys and no breakfast. Time for lunch-and a few beers, heh heh.

They haven't opened yet. I am assuming they are waiting until all that construction out in front is over before they do.

Oh hell if they wait for that it'll be at least a year before they open. That construction is the Ashland Terrace road widening project and in conjunction with that they are modernizing and extending the sewer and drainage system for that whole 2 mile section of the road between Norcross and Thrushwood.

If they are already paying rent and fixing the place up they cannot afford to wait for the construction to be over. As it's maybe a mile at most from the homestead I'll fight my way there at least once.

And it's been a month since the original post and the place still hasn't opened. I drive by it twice a day on the commute to and from work and the signs in the windows still proclaim "Coming Soon". It can't come soon enough to suit me.

Rumor has it the owner is having trouble getting permitted due to a shortage of parking spaces in front. Rumor further states there may be a relocation to somewhere that would be take-out only. Will advise when I hear more, but I'm going to be in Mexico next week so don't expect anything soon.

Ok here it is now 7 months since this thread originated. Gumbo Yaya has yet to open. On my way past it this morning, I noticed one of the paper signs covering one of the front windows had partially fallen down and I could see the inside was a vacant hulk. So I don't think there will be a Gumbo Yaya after all. This disappoints me as I was looking forward to convenient Cajun food. Neither of the two Blue Orleans locations are really convenient to me. A few weeks ago, I went by the Amnicola Hwy location at 7pm on a Tuesday night to satisfy my Cajun cravin' and as I pulled into the lot and parked, a girl inside came to the door, locked it, and flipped the sign from "Open" to "Closed". Their posted hours were to 8pm for that night. If they don't want my business so badly that they'll close an hour early to avoid it, then I won't continue to go out of my way to patronize their establishment.

Sadly, no I was not. I'm still wantin' me some jambalaya and some red beans and rice with Andouille sausage and maybe a couple of ice cold mugs of Dixie beer to wash it all down with.
Damn...my mouth is watering just typing about it.
*Sigh*

It's not gonna happen, obviously. And I just don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling from either branch of Blue Orleans.

Dave I would tell the manager about your experience. I like both Blue Orleans myself.

Dave, I think you just got unlucky. Some nights any restaurant is dead and might as well close early. Other than the fact the whole building needs to be bulldozed and replaced, the Amnicola Blue Orleans is a decent place to eat, especially their homemade sausage po-boys.

While I admit they were dead that night -- there were no other cars in the parking lot, at any rate -- they weren't doing anything else to indicate that they were closing early. No one was visibly cleaning anything despite the two or three "dirty" tables visible in the dining area. From what I could see, the hostess and a waiter were standing around gabbing with each other and when they noticed me pulling up, the hostess trotted out to lock the door and flip the sign over. She returned to gabbing with the waiter kid. My take on the whole incident was that they simply didn't want to have to bother serving me and risk the possibility that they might have to work beyond the 8pm closing time. That's fine and dandy. If they don't want my money, I won't force it upon them.

We had lunch at Blue Orleans Monday and it was fabulous. We shared gumbo, crawdad fritters, jambalaya, and seafood etouffee, drank Abita beer ( I Turbodog and she the Amber) and were very satisfied.
If they were a bit less expensive, we'd eat there all the time.
