Since I usually make my own frostings, I was surprised when I went to Wal-Mart to purchase a box of frosting mix which was listed as an ingredient in a recipe I am going to be using for the holidays. There was plenty of cake mix, and the little cans of ready to use frosting - but not one box of any type of boxed frosting mix. Is that not used any more? I finally found it at Bi-Lo - one of those little Jiffy boxes.

Jiffy is the only brand of frosting mix I've ever seen. I must admit, I'm hooked on the little cans from Dunkin Hines.

I look pretty young, but I'm just back-dated.

At least 10 years ago I had a similar situation and it took 3 different stores before I finally asked someone and they located a DUSTY box way back behind the others. I was probably the first person to ask for it in years. After that, I resorted to making frosting from scratch, since that stuff in the can (IMO) is toxic waste.

I know what you mean - but this is to be used as an ingredient in some candy I am making for Thanksgiving and I wasn't sure what I could replace it with. Any ideas for the future?
