Main Street has a new addition to the up and coming area. Recently I tried the new Blue Grass Grill. Its located on E. Main St just down from the No 1 Fire Hall and across from Mitchell St. Eating there was a bit surreal considering this area used to be riddled with prostitues and drug dealers.
Their breakfast menu is top notch! On my first visit I ordered eggs, AppleWood bacon, home fries, and biscuit. The bacon was very good and crisp, not greasy... just right. The home fries were fresh potatos cut with skin on. It appears that they may have been cooked in olive oil and it gave it a great fresh, not greasy taste. The biscuit was a bit different than what you are normally used to. Its a whole wheat biscuit. I thought it was pretty good; however the ingredients to make it do not appear to bind very well.
On my second visit I tried the "Salmon Frittata" This is basically what I would consider a spanish version of an omelet. Its cooked like a fried egg, but Alderwood smoked Salmon is added. On top is a spicy cream cheese with dill. It is absolutely wonderful. Its probably one of the better breakfast items that I have ever tried. It comes with the home fries and the biscuit. IF NOTHING ELSE TRY THIS.
I noticed they had a wide variety of breakfast items. I even saw someone eating fresh blueberries and oatmeal. You can basically get anything you can imagine for breakfast and then some.
They are also open for lunch, but I have not been there during lunch time. I plan on going soon, but I noticed that it is quite busy and the restaurant is fairly small.
The only thing I would suggest is that they offer better coffee. There are many upscale items on the menu, but the coffee appears to be just run of mill brew. With many local places here to offer better coffee, I think it would be a good idea
