Staff Reports A hearing on charges of malpractice and unethical conduct against the physician who performed the autopsy on Angel Delashmitt in Athens, Tenn., has been rescheduled, according to the Tennessee Department of Health. Dr. Ron Toolsie, former medical examiner in Bradley and other Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia counties, was accused in a complaint filed in October of “unprofessional, dishonorable and unethical conduct” and “gross malpractice ... ignorance, negligence or incompetence in the course of medical practice.” The charges stemmed from an allegation that Dr. Toolsie botched the autopsy on Angel Delashmitt, who was 14 months old when she died in June of 2003. The autopsy report stated that Angel had been sexually assaulted and that she died of shaken baby syndrome. Her father, Mitchell Delashmitt, was indicted on charges of rape and murder and had been held in jail since then. www.timesfreepress.com/absolutenm/templates/?a=12521&z=41
