Sheriff expands chaplain program to help deputies cope with stress of job
By Lauren Gregory Staff Writer The days Tim Millsaps gets slugged on the job are some of his favorite work days of all. “I have had people hit me,” said the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department senior chaplain, who helps officers break the news to families who have lost loved ones in accidents. “In all honesty, it’s really the best part of the job,” he said of the emotional home visits. “They need to unload. ... They need us to help bring compassion to the table.” Mr. Millsaps, who served as chaplain for the Soddy-Daisy Police Department before joining Sheriff Billy Long’s staff in September, has been working for months to develop what he hopes will become a nine-member chaplain program to help both grieving residents and the officers who serve them. If the High Sheriff does nothing else in this term, instituting this program, he will have accomplished something good.

Chaplain Millsaps is nothing but just WAY too cool! I love it when he comes to hang out at the IVOC with us... This is going to be a great thing for the department.
Edited because I spelled his name wrong even after I had just finished reading it! LOL

Tim is a great guy and a wonderful preacher. He's pastor of Grace Calvary Chapel up off Hixson Pike in Lakesite. He's also a good friend. His wife, Cathy is a real treasure too. I've known Tim, his family and extended family for many years.
