Fucking hypocrite. I hope they through the book at him. The law book, not the Holy Book that he apparently never paid much attention to when he was preaching his hate.

Would that be before or after they are through with it?
You know it sucks when I am the one correcting spelling.

Heh, does my anti organized religion heart good to read stories like this. Almost as good as when that hypocritical SOB that owns Karl's Restaurant got busted for the same thing a few years ago.

Now that would be an answer to prayer!
That guy is even worse than a wick dippin' preacher, as he actively covered up for a child predator.
Thankfully, some damn good investigators finally got 'im, despite L. Ron's attempts.

Of course...L Ron -did- put up a statue of Gandolph and Frodo in front of the new Godnasium...that's got to account for something.

McCracken Poston Press Release?....................................... ATTORNEY FOR REVEREND STEVE MOORE ASKS FOR PATIENCE, FAIRNESS The attorney for Reverend Steven Moore of the Ringgold United Methodist Church is asking that the public give his client the benefit of the "presumption of innocence" as the case works its way through the court.
"For whatever reason, someone in the Chattanooga Police Department found it titillating to disclose to the media the fact that Steve Moore was a man of the cloth," said McCracken Poston, Moore's attorney, adding: "That purposefully ignited the media's insatiable desire for stories that suggest a salacious angle involving a prominent citizen." Poston chided some of the media for not sparing the family of the Ringgold pastor the "rush to judgment" that we often see in the wake of these reports. Poston added that some media highlights of his client's citation have caused an inordinate flood of telephone calls about the case.
Poston pointed out that in the initial media release from the police department to the Chattanooga Times-Free Press on Tuesday, in the list of names of nine men and one woman charged in the alleged prostitution sting operation, Moore's name was featured at the top of the story, and only Moore's name was followed with a description of his work as Chaplain for the Catoosa County Fire Department. "That release was followed by a media bombardment of the Ringgold United Methodist Church, the Catoosa County Fire Department and even the Moore family's home," the Ringgold attorney said.
Poston acknowledged that the First Amendment gives the rights for any such story to be written and broadcast, but noted that there are other constitutional considerations at play, and requested patience from the community, and that people not be too quick to judge the pastor on the basis of the charges filed against him, stating "In due time, in the course of the judicial process, the case will be heard." Poston pointed out that all citizens, even pastors, deserve fair treatment and the presumption of innocence until and through a trial.
"I guess we can only look at ourselves as a culture for the answer of why we reward the media for putting so much emphasis on these stories," Poston added, "but we as a community should think of and embrace Steve's family and protect them." Poston ended with the comment that "In times like these, even a beloved pastor will find out who in the community will surround him and his family with love and support in this extremely difficult time, and who will, on the other hand, prematurely 'cast the first stone'."

He can make all the "presumed innocent" press releases he wants, but the fact is that the right Reverend is 1) a public figure, and 2) was caught red-handed solicitating a prostitute who turned out to be a police officer.
Using the "Worm Defense" is all well and good, but sometimes it's just damn obvious when someone is flat out guilty.
edited for the usual reason - my spelling sucks

I figure he was going to preach on the evils of prostitution and was just doing his homework. Was it his fault a police(woman?) prevented him from getting accurate, first-hand knowledge? How dare she. Sad. No happy ending.
And what about the other nine or so ignoramuses?

Dear Mom & Dad,
At last! I made it through the academy. No, I'm not really a hooker, but I play one on the police force.

The way I see it, anyone who hires Mr. McCracken is almost certainly guilty of something. If I got popped I'd sure give him a call.

When I used to stay at command posts to tally John arrests, I would keep count of who (of the female officers) was the better 'Ho'.
It caused great conflict, because they wanted the arrests, but were quite offended.
...In time, I was no longer allowed to remain at the command posts, branded as an 'Instigator'.
God, I hate 'labels'.

Yeah, in the name of 'fairness' we would be more than happy to criticise the others!
But it is hard to beat a preacher getting his hand caught in the nookie jar ;D
