Fire Breaks Out At Lane Funeral Home Crematory (Rossville) posted May 5, 2007 A fire broke out late Friday night at the garage and crematory at Lane Funeral Home's South Crest Chapel in Rossville. Officials said the fire did not reach the main building of the funeral home, and three services would go on as planned on Saturday. The fire broke out about 11:30 p.m. Officials said they did not know what caused the blaze that sent flames towering into the night sky at the hilltop funeral home. Well........at least we can be sure that the bodies at this Georgia crematory got cremated.

I've been morbidly curious about this. Anyone know if any of the "customers" were in the fire? (Other than the scheduled cremations)

According to Chattanoogan.com it was a garage and the crematory only - not the main building.

There's something humorous about a fire in a crematory. Could have gotten someone cremated for free with a little effort.

Did you have someone in particular in mind?

I'm with Babs - a crematory on fire just sounds way too funny
Like those without a fire because its too soggy around a Marsh...

Surely there is a clue somewhere as to how and where it started! Did they leave someone on the burner too long? I can say these things and not be unfeeling. I have 3 or 4 urns in my china cabinet with animal ashes. They are in these "gold" glided urns, which I thought looked a little tacky. They also have available wooden boxes, which I guess you could stack if short on space, but they are a little too plain.
