I did a rare thing and made myself a chocolate cake (gluten-free, of course). Just a minute ago, I made a quick run to the grocery store. Ten minutes later I get home and Romeo has eaten 1/3 of my damn cake.
Not sure what got into him that suddenly I can't trust him with food on the counter, but he'll be the one paying the price. Good thing he's so bloody big or he'd be needing poison control.

I don't. I'd left it on the counter to finish cooling.

I have a cat that is great except if you leave a loaf of bread out. She just can't resist it!

We have to be very careful at Casa Bear. We have a dog with no sense whatsoever who is large enough to get stuff off the counter. We also have a cat who is the spawn of Satan and cannot be trusted if out of sight.

Good thing he's so bloody big or he'd be needing poison control. You might check with your vet anyway...chocolate is really dangerous for dogs (heart/kidney). Bless their stupid li'l souls...

I feel for you Kitty. However, you should know that Romeo is plenty big enough to get whatever he wants. Apparently he also likes your cooking.
Decades ago... when I lived in Harrison and CoffeeShooter lived next door... We had about 12 or 13 small terriers between us... all running free as our two houses were out in the woods and we didn't have any other neighbors. Then Coffee's sister asked her to babysit an Afghan hound. (Matt was an amazingly good dog!) We didn't always know how to keep things away from a big dog.
One day, I was getting things out of the freezer on the car port for dinner. I didn't have enough hands, so I laid the roast on the car. On the TOP of the car. The roof... not the hood. When I carried some things inside and returned for the roast... Matt the Afghan hound had a 5 pound roast cycle out in the yard working on it... surrounded by 12 smaller dogs hoping for a chip.
*shrug* What can you do? I made pork chops.

No, you got Matt after he killed my aunt's dog Chico. Pit bulls have to be trained to fight... Afghans kill things because it's inbreed for them to enjoy it. Matt came 'home' bloody about three times and there was never a mark on HIM.

The only dog that ever bit me was an Afghan hound. To this day, in my mind's eye I picture the breed as being about 11 feet tall at the shoulder.

I am accepting burial offerings for my sofa. Two of my "little girls" have chewed the sofa. Wouldn't be so bad if the sofa wasn't brand new. I am ready to move out and leave the belonings to the damn dogs. God, I love them. Help me, Jesus!!

Did you use a gluten-free mix? Pamela's Products are the best!
My dog once drank a whole bottle of Hawaiian Tropic suntan oil (remember that stuff we used to baste ourselves in in the days before we knew it was bad for us?) He had coconut-scented diarrhea for weeks...

Snark, I used the Namaste mix. I've been pretty pleased with the Namaste products I've tried. The brownie mix from them is the best I've had yet.

Pasha would NEVER do that - here's to vertically challenged dogs!
But I know better than to turn my back on the cats and anything that needs to be left out like that gets stowed in the microwave instead of out on the counter.

My husband had to put his Marlboros and lighter in the cabinet because he kept finding them scattered all over the kitchen. Under the fridge, etc.
We're trying to get Elvis to switch to Camels.
