It's 24 years old and has 350 thousand miles on it and it's a diesel and has a bad starter plus other issues...I need transportation...my car is dead

No it isn't David. You're thinking of Stephen's jeep which is old, worn out and ridiculously priced. K.C.'s jeep is quite a bit more reasonable on every level but if you really aren't interested then hey, I need a car too...
On the other hand I have a few extra motorcycles you might enjoy.

What part of you Escort finally gave up the ghost, btw? I thought you just had bad wheel bearings.

The wheel bearings were fine...it was the left strut that was in need of replacement...but before I could get that done, the water pump developed a crack and the cooling system ran dry and the engine over heated and warped and cracked.
I made the assumption that she was talking about Stephen's Jeep because she has a thread below listing it for sale. I didn't know KC had a Jeep, too. I'd like to come take a look at it.
The extra motorcycles would be nice except for one small tiny detail.... I don't know how to operate one.

I really don't want to have to use a motorcycle for daily transportation during winter.

Not to be unsympathetic Dave-o, but as I find myself with no other option, I am unsympathetic.
First rule of life is you do what you have to do.
But I was kidding of course, I never thought you'd be interested in a bike. Something to be said for 50+ mpg though (as long as the weather is nice...)

When I was younger I rode my bike to work daily for three years. The birth of my oldest son and a broken ankle was what stopped me. One morning it was -7°F. It took me half the day to thaw out.

I too spent three years with nothing but a motorcycle as transportation. In fact, till I get home on Friday I once again have only bikes and my feet for transportation. It's supposed to rain Friday as I wheel my way back home on said motorcycle.
We are made of hardier stuff though.

I hope you find a car, Dave. Have you checked Craig's List? I bought one on there recently (99 Mazda, 200k miles, $1000).
If you were refusing to consider a car less than 10-years-old, or with minor body damage, or that didn't have power windows; I would think you were whiney. To not consider a motorcycle because you can't drive one is sound reasoning. Apparantly you (and by you I mean Dave) need to jump through some hoops in order to be a valid person on this board.

David Humbert Martin has been my friend for fifteen years and one of my closest friends for at least the last five therefore I will tease him, cajole him, question his manhood, bring up his snoring, rick-roll him, drink his whiskey, do immoral things to his ears and otherwise give him a hard time as much as I like.
That's what friends are for.
And no, his middle name isn't Humbert, but Dave gets it...

Yes, I see now I'm being entirely too cruel to a man I don't know at all. I mean, it isn't like he lives in my house. Why, I've never even met his brother....

I hope you find a car, Dave. Have you checked Craig's List? I bought one on there recently (99 Mazda, 200k miles, $1000). I've looked at CL but all of the entries appear to be from dealers and I have massive credit issues. My latest car was 13 years old when it died. The car before that was 14 years old and it had some minor body damage for most of the time that I owned it. I've never owned a car with power windows. Obviously you didn't notice underneath my name there in the left-hand column where it says "Global Moderator". I am one of the most senior and most trusted moderators on this board. My powers extend to every topic category and I am one of the people Gary puts in charge when he goes on vacation. You don't get more "valid" on this board than that. I just happen to have a thick skin and don't feel the need to abuse my powers just because my best friend erinslion and my landlady Warkitty are teasing me. Dave

There's a car in front of Las Margaritas/Precision Tune on HWY 58 with $500 painted on the windshield. Looks ok from the outside just driving by, but who knows how it runs?
