I have truly enjoyed the exchange here between Dave, Kitty, Erinslion and Bloodhound. Thank you all for the laugh this morning. Dave, hope you find a car soon!

I went by Wednesday and the only jeep I saw in your yard was a grey Cherokee. Nobody was home so I couldn't ask Marc about it. From what I saw, it has a fair amount of peeling paint and rust on the body. The tires look like they need to be replaced. And the rear hatch latch is busted.

I have a Toyota for sale in Chattanooga that only needs a tuneup.
Problem is, it's an RV.

If I remember correctly, only about 85k. Needs a front glass in the RV part, as well.
I don't really want to sell it, but it's just sitting there, and no prospects of flying down and driving back any time soon.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you like the cold. It doesn't bother me, and there were a lot of RV's out in the Yukon and northern BC last time we drove it, but it was also -27 in one of the warmer spots.
It's not that cold yet overall, but it comes on suddenly. It was -13 when I was in Fairbanks about 3 weeks ago.
Not that I would mind having it or having company, mind you, but want to warn you...

I no longer need a car. Easy Auto took all four limbs and GEICO will be taking my penis but I now have a silver and black 2003 Ford ZX2.

It should be good for you. Mazda makes a good car, and it has nice HP. Although the fuel economy is not as good as you would expect for a small car because of the HP boost.

I didn't realize it was a Mazda. It says Ford on the nameplate and the owner's manual. Carfax said I should get about 33 mpg on the highway and around 25 in the city. It's really a sweet ride. Plenty of HP (147!) for a small car. And it's a lot of fun to drive. Dave

You know, I thought it seemed to run awfully well for being a Ford. Ever since the Ford Probe GT (which was a highly underrated machine I think) Ford has had a licensing deal with Mazda to occasionally use their engines.
I think you can expect a long life out of your car Dave.

Is it a licensing deal or an ownership issue? I never completely understood the deal. Either way, it would say "Ford" on the stuff, just as the Probe did. At some point, they started making them on a Cosworth model in Mexico, but I think that was about 2003 or 2004.
But, I work with a lady who is driving her son's ZX2 and she loves it.
33 MPG is pretty good compared to the older models based on the Protege model, so it may be the Ford engine in 2002.

The 2nd Generation Escort shared it's engine with the Mazda Protege The Ford ZX2 has a 2.0L Zetech engine The Ford Probe shared it's engine with the Mazda MX6

Yes...it's a 2.0L Zetech. It be loads of fun to drive. I am quite happy with the product despite the anal raping I took on the price and financing. Of course the majority of my next paycheck is going to be taken up by my insurance bill. GEICO wants $474 for 6 months of full coverage even with the deductibles set at $500 (which is the max allowed by the finance company).

I don't want to hear the whining Dave, your insurance payment is lower than mine.
So's your room and board.

Hmmm... This is interesting. This thread made me look up some stuff about my Mazda and I think I just found out why I get lousy gas mileage for such a small car. 165 HP out of a 1.8 liter engine.
But, the Zetec is based on a Cosworth design, therefore it should be a great engine and fun to drive.
Is yours an auto or manual?

It's an automatic. I'd have preferred a manual but I really wasn't in a financial position to be too picky over what I ended up with. Actually, I'm quite thankful for what I got. It's a fun little car. Yesterday I was cruising up 153 going 70 -- barely even touching the accelerator -- and the tachometer was reading about 2600 rmp and it redlines at 6500. So I've got power I haven't even touched yet.
Good news for today is that GEICO merely upgraded my existing policy to the required level of coverage and only charged me the difference in price pro-rated for the remainder of my current policy period. So instead of $474, I only had to pay $67 today. And the renewal when my current policy expires on Dec 28th will be $451 instead of $474.
Dave is in a very good mood today.

Don't be silly. They only read the threads in this section dealing with stolen merchandise. Cops are bargain-hunters, too.
