I'm getting ready to sell these on eBay. If you're interested, I'll hold off while we discuss the issue. (I'm planning on posting it tonight, unless someone expresses and interest.) It looks like I would get about $100 or a little better dividing them up on eBay, so $75 (plus shipping) is what I'm asking, or make an offer. I'm pasting my eBay posting below, in its entirety:
I spent many years collecting these science fiction digests, scouring book stores, antique shops, estate sales, etc. However, I’m tired of moving them and have nowhere to store them. Now, it’s your chance to fill in or add to your collection! My loss is your gain.
I’m not a book grader, but I will do my best to describe the books. I am going by looking at the outside, and a cursory look inside. I have not read many of these. I will not omit any obvious defects. I am including a photo of the lot, to show that I have them all, but I have photos of them by year, if you want to see them. I am attempting to sell them all at once. If I don’t, I will sell individual years.
Shipping rate quoted ($18.30) is for media mail shipping, which sometimes takes quite a while; they’re shipping from Alaska in two boxes. If you’re interested in Priority mail, please ask, but be advised that they weigh 31 pounds, unpackaged, so I’m estimating 35 pounds total for shipping, divided into two packages of 17.5 pounds each, plus $2.00 for handling. (Packaging will add 2 or 3 pounds in most cases.)
Insurance is not required, but is highly recommended. If you choose to not insure, it is not my responsibility once the package leaves my hands.
Since I will be dividing them by year if they don’t sell as a lot, I already have them separated. What I am doing here is copying and pasting from the individual listings to this combined listing. Where there are complete years, I try to state such, but please be advised that I may be incorrect about this. (In some instances, I have two conflicting sources claiming different numbers for different years.) I am not trying to be deceitful, but am only quoting the sources I have at hand. If I am counting correctly, there are 95 total issues here.
Included in this auction:
1955 - July; 1956 - June; 1956 - Septemeber; 1961 - August; 1961 – December. All 5 issues are in good condition overall. July 1955 has a spinal crease, and a faded black "15¢" written in marker or something. June 1956 has a spinal crease and some yellowing. September 1956 has a cover crease, spinal wear, and a faded blue "15¢". Both the 1961 issues are have some spinal deterioration at the top and bottom.
1962 – complete year – February, April, June, August, October, and December. All are in good condition overall, with some yellowing and spinal dings.
1963 – complete year – February, April, June, August, October, and December. All are in good condition overall, with some yellowing.
1964 - February, October, and December. They are in good condition overall with some yellowing and minor wear.
1965 - February, April, June, and August. All four are in pretty good shape, but there is some yellowing.
1966 – complete year – February, April, June, August, October, and December. My records show that this is all for 1966. All are in good condition overall, but there is yellowing and some spine damage, with some spinal damage, including the paper deterioration. Perhaps dampness on the spine, although there is no water damage to the book itself that I see.
1967 - April, June, August, October, and December. All are in good condition overall, but there is yellowing and some wear to the spines.
1968 - April, June, July, August, September, October, November, December. All are in good condition overall, but some of the spines look like they have some kind of moisture damage, although it does not show through into the book itself. It's like some of the ink and paper has disappeared. I don't really know how to describe it, but the books don't seem to be water damaged.
1969 – complete year – January, February, March, April, May, July, August, September, October, November, and December. My records show that this is every issue for 1969. All are in good condition overall, but there is some yellowing, and on the spines look "interesting" to me, but I don't know if it's abnormal. I don't know how to describe it.
1971 - February and 1972 - March, May, July, and September. All are in good condition, but the February 1971 issue has qute a bit of wear and yellowing. The March and May issues (consecutive) contain Isaac Asimov's novel "The Gods Themeselves".
1973 – complete year – January, March, May, July, September, October, November, and December. My records show that this is every issue from 1973. All are in good condition overall, with some yellowing to some of the issues.
April 1974 and October 1975. Both are intact, but are well-read, with some yellowing and wear to the covers.
1976 January, February, March, May, July, September, October, and December. All are in good condition overall, with some minor yellowing and a couple of minor corner creases.
1977 – complete year – March, April, May, June, September, October, and November. (The Dec/Jan issue is included in the 1978 auction.) According to one source I have, this is complete for the year, the other says that it should include July and August. It is up to you to verify this, as I cannot. All I can do is tell you which ones are included. All are in good condition overall, with some yellowing, but as you can see in the photos, there are mailing labels on some of them.
1978 – complete year – All 8 issues from 1978, including the combined Dec 77/Jan 78 issue. This is Volume 39 numbers 1-8. All are in good condition overall, but as you can see, some of them have address labels on the cover. There is a small "55" on the cover of the Dec/Jan issue, and a slight tear in the back cover.
