Speaking at Murrells Inlet VFW Hall in South Carolina, McCain was asked when he thought the US Military might "send an air mail message to Tehran." "McCain began his answer by changing the words to a popular Beach Boys song," the Georgetown Times reports. "'Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran,' he sang to the tune of Barbara Ann," the paper notes. McCain then added, "Iran is dedicated to the destruction of Israel. That alone should concern us but now they are trying for nuclear capabilities. I totally support the President when he says we will not allow Iran to destroy Israel." (Video Included of the singing) rawstory.com/news/2007/McCain_unplugged_Bomb_bomb_bomb_bomb_0419.html

And the man thinks this is the way to get elected?

Sadly McCain is just to angry of a man to be in the WH. His fast temper is a problem and I'm afraid time has just past him by. He needs to remain a senator.

On a personal level, I'm still impressed by him.
But, he's far too liberal to make a good president. He's probably even more liberal than GWB.
I'm still hoping for Fred to make a run.

I think that would be a good thing as well. I'm still taking a long look at Newt!

Great, politicians check your sense of humor at the door, thank you... PC is so rampant he can't even make a joke about a country that has sworn hatred towards the US. Lovely.

No, the leader of Iran has sworn hatred towards the U.S.. Much as has the leader of the U.S. essentially sworn hatred towards much of the world, only he is too weasel-worded to say it right out. Ignorance and arrogance do not make good foriegn policy. Furthermore, perverting the lyrics and music of Brian Wilson in this manner is repugnant. Of course the foregoing is merely my very humble opinion.

Have the Beach Boys (or Bruce Wilson's attorney) contacted McCain to advise him to not publicly desecrate their music again?
Funny, how he chose a beach song while giving a speech at the beach.
Having lived in the Georgetown area, I'm surpised that any candidate has graced that county with his presence.

You don't remember the parody from the Iran Hostage Crisis? I thought it was Bob Rivers, but after searching it was Vince Vance and the Valiants that did "Bomb Iran" to the tune of "Barbara Ann". Listen to it here.

Parodies are specifically protected under copyright laws. Michael Jackson tried to stop Weird Al in court for Eat It.

Parodies, yes, but didn't the copyright-holders of the "Chattanooga Choo-Choo" put the stop to "Pardon me, Ray" during the Blanton pardons-for-cash scandal?
I doubt that McCain's performance will make the top ten anywhere but on youtube. Can't imagine anyone caring, from the copyright point.

His campaign is disintegrating before his eyes, and he knows it. It's pretty bad that he's already getting desperate for attention this far away from the start of the primaries.
Stick a fork in him, he's done.
Now someone just needs to kicks Fred Thompson in the ass and get him to declare. Enough of waiting, Freddie.

Parodies are specifically protected under copyright laws. Michael Jackson tried to stop Weird Al in court for Eat It. Weird Al doesn't do parodies unless the original artist agrees to it. He could if he wanted to, but in order to maintain good relations w/ artists and the music industry, he asks their permission. The one snag came w/ Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise. Coolio's label had agreed to it, but Coolio apparently wasn't happy about it. They did eventually make up publically though

Well, another urban legend bites the dust.
The one with Atlantic records is amusing, though.
Look it up on Wikipedia.

I remember that song...My uncle use to have an old juke box back in the 70's and that was one of the songs in it along with Joe Tex's Big Fat Woman, and Do ya think I am sexy-Rod Stewart....those were the only songs my sister and I would play....otherwise it was "old crapy stuff" lol
As far as McCain goes...he lost me when he pulled out of the race in 2000 and endorsed Bush.

Not that it's a parody, but this discussion of amusing music reminds me of the Tennessee Rounders' "Mom for a Wife" which I find hilarious.
but some @$$%0^# stole it from the studio.

I had a friend who was in a band, and they were on the road in Alabama. He said that on one jukebox, he saw a song titled, "My Wife Ran Off With a D*** N*****"
