By Kelly Proctor Staff Writer The woman who exposed one of Tennessee's worst political scandals said she did so because she "had to test the system of government I so strongly believed in." Marie Ragghianti, former chairwoman of the Board of Pardons and Paroles in the 1970s, also said her former attorney, former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson, would "make a great president." "He's a person of integrity with a clear-eyed view of reality," she said of Mr. Thompson, who has announced he's considering a presidential bid. "He would do well in an environment where he's the decision-maker. "I don't think he was able to exercise his full potential in the U.S. Senate" because of that body's 100-member equality, she said. "I think he would make an even better president than U.S. senator." Now, that Marie had some balz!

I had no idea that she was born in Chattanooga. I wonder if she grew up there as well. Interesting.

Someone needs to tell James Dobson to go pound sand and Fred Thompson's got the stones to do it. One can sense his complete disdain for the process and focus group micro-managing. Fred might be favorably compared with Truman, except for his skill at reveling in private thought pathology and crotchety brooding. He may be more Hamlet than Harry.
We'll know he's running if he house hunts in Tennessee. Until then, Fred basks in the adulation and keeps a statement handy blaming predatory politics for his exit.

I for one am waiting for Newt to enter the race. Until then, I will support Ron Paul. Am I the only one who wants Newt to run?
