Story here.WOODBRIDGE, N.J. — Jim McGreevey has gone from altar boy to mayor to the nation's first openly gay governor.
From the moment he stood at a podium in 2004 and announced he was a "gay American" who was resigning because of an affair with a male staffer, people wondered what McGreevey's next act would be.
Now we know: He wants to become a preacher and a teacher.Remember former Governor Jim "I am a gay American" McGreevey of New Jersey? He is again in the news, now as a prospective Episcopal priest, if he goes through the whole process, which is lengthy. As an Episcopalian, my first reaction to this news was that more tension between the U.S. Episcopal Church and the parent Anglican Communion will result. If he sincerely thinks he has a vocation, as part of his process of self-examination he needs to consider carefully the effect on the church of such a high-profile act.

You're being way too kind. He's stealing the spotlight from his ex-wife's book tour. The Episcopal Church should be urging his committal to a psychiatric institution. This is all about personal attention, not personal redemption. Would you go to Jim McGreevey for spiritual guidance?
A proven need to be the center of the universe is not qualification for spiritual leadership.
Or is it?

Legal Tender asserted:
A proven need to be the center of the universe is not qualification for spiritual leadership.
Pat Robertson seems to think so. Not to mention Jerry Falwell...and the list goes on.
Yeah, McGreevey does seem to have a bad case of "it's all about me," and a tenuous grasp of the concepts of humility and penitence. (I hasten to say that the penitence should be for deceit and betrayal, not for his sexual orientation.)
