I am looking for a nice two bedroom apartment in the area... any suggestions of good places or warnings of bad places?

Not a clue. Home ownership has me spoiled.

What area of town are you looking for?
Duplex or complex?

Windridge apartments...I have lived there twice in 20 years. If they sold them as condomeniums, I would be there today. They are on Pineville Rd...just before the Baylor School entrance.

Do NOT go to Mountain Creek apartments. They have water damage in most buildings, the clubhouse is unavailable(as are the raquetball courts) due to water damage...the owners refuse to have it fixed, and considering the problems the rent is too high for them. Oh, and they have a psychotic little security guard who is a pain in the ass.

...not when you drive past him as he frantically waves at you. The key to your security guard is never making eye-conact.
As for local apartments? I was a happy camper in Brainerd (if that is possible) when I ran security at 7310 Standifer Gap. It's changed names, but it used to be Arbor Creek, amongst other names. But in general? ANY apartment worthwhile will have rent that is higher than the average mortgage on a place with 400% more square footage (and security) to boot. Wherever you wind up...make it temporary. They practically give houses away now, and renting is for suckers. I can say that, because I was one.
And nappy-headed, at that.

I live at the Chalet in Red Bank. Fairly nice apartments and I do know that a 2 bedroom is available, several I think. Rent is not THAT bad and it's pretty close to stuff...PM me if you need more info

bwhahahaha! I was just going to reccomend Mountain Creek, as I lived there for 6 years I didn't have too much trouble, and for what I was paying for them ($560/mo), a 1000 sq foot 2 bed 2 bath was plenty of space for me. As for the guard... well, I can only assume you're talking about 'Mousey'.... he always was a trip, wasn't he? Can't understand a word he says, and god help you if he sees you speeding through the complex! Personally, I never had any serious problems with the place... when I did have a maintenance issue, it got fixed within 24 hours most of the time. Sam is right about the water damage and the raquetball courts, and I remember finding broken glass in the pool once, but if you don't need those things and you can get into one of the nicer buildings, you'll be ok. I would shy away from Signal View... when I went to look there, their was obvious water damage from multiple exploded water heaters, in the demo apartment they showed prospective tenants. Another friend of mine who lived in those apartments referred to them as 'the slums'. Anyway, good luck! Crash

Did I mention that I have a Mini-Cruiser RV for sale and it's in Chattanooga?

Avoid apartments all together. For about the same price you can have a duplex and only have one neighbor to wanna kill.
Generally I cannot stand duplex's, but if you can find some like the one's on signal that are 2 story and built fairly recently it's like a 2 floor apartment, only one neighbor, and nice as anything out there that is decent...... for the same price as an apartment.
That way you even get a lawn to mess around with, in, on. Something like those would be about the only one's I'd consider.
