About three weeks ago my son, who is a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard, found out that he will soon be heading to Camp Bucca in Iraq to help guard the camp. At that time he was told he would be stationed for between six to eight weeks someplace in the US to train for his mission and after the training would immediately be shipped to his duty station in Iraq. Friday he found out he would leave on June 7 th for Fort Dix in New Jersey for his training. Today I read this. I'm more than just a little worried about him.

Hey JIT, I was up there In Fort Dix for a month in 87 as part of my MOS training. This surprises me as well. Maybe it's time that we stop allowing muslims into this country period. If we look at the past 40 years in world history, we will see that the muslims are the ones who have done the vast majority of terrorist attacks. Think about our southern Border with Mexico at just how easy a terrorist can make it across with ease.

I heard about this on the radio this morning. I can't believe that any American, Muslim or Illegal Immigrant could get on a military base that easily.

If they could they can't now but what has me worried is that we have our soldiers now being targeted on our soil. How long before some terrorist decides to watch the goings and comings from our military bases and plan an attack just outside the gate?

Agree, Justin. They could easily hide in the crowd periodically protesting at Ft. Benning's School of the America's, for example.
’m disappointed that warrantless wiretaps on innocent Americans completely missed the Dix Six.
It was a Circuit City clerk, not Bush, who caught them.

The best take I've seen: www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_050907/content/01125101.member.htmlSay, folks: if the Democrats were consistent, they would defend the six foreign-born Muslims under arrest for planning to slaughter Fort Dix, New Jersey soldiers. I mean, the plot was exposed by a video store clerk asked to duplicate a DVD showing the Fort Dix Six using weapons and grenades and calling for jihad. Four of these guys are former Yugoslavians, one's from Jordan, the other from Turkey. Three are in the country illegally, two have green cards, and one is an American citizen.
First, the Democrats I know ought to expose the store clerk, who was obviously helping the Bush Administration illegally spy, domestically. Put this guy in jail! Democrats ought to leak his name to the New York Times. Count on it: if they do, that info will be published.
Next, the Democrats I know would prosecute the authorities who arrested the Fort Dix Six. Not only did investigators racially profile fine, upstanding members of the Fort Dix community, they questioned their immigration status -- that's nobody's business!
Then, the Democrats I know should demand that these wannabe terrorists, especially the undocumented ones, be accorded every protection granted US citizens. They should not be banished to Club Gitmo or be classified as enemy combatants. In fact, they ought to be released on their own recognizance -- lest our evil military torture the poor victims!
And finally, the Democrats I know should apologize, on behalf of America, to every Muslim nation for the mistreatment of the Fort Dix Six that they have suffered at US hands. How can we be friends with the terrorists and the rest of the world if we arrest them every time they threaten to kill a few of us? Come on, Democrats: stand up and be who you are!

Just like it was a on the ball border guard not Bill Clinton that caught the Millennium bomb plot. Ahmed Ressam, six years in Canada, crossed over from BC, so what warrantless wiretapping would have unmasked his intentions? Terrorists do not attack hard targets. They blow up trains, tunnels, markets, buildings, and hijack planes. These six couldn’t even get past the paintball training without being caught and they expected to attack a military installation?

I actually heard that the group was trying to get a movie video made and the store that they came into to do it for them viewed the tape and thought the activity on it was suspicious and reported it to authorities back in 2005 I might add and they have been trailing the group since. If I remember correctly 2 were in the US legally 2 not...(I don't know the other 2's status but, they were all born outside the USA) As I mentioned in another post before JIT posted this none of them were from Iraq....but, Yugoslavia, Syria, Jordan...and I don't remember if there were any other countries outside of those I assume this is the same case you are talking about in regards to the plot against Fort Dix that was released in the news Monday I believe? (Maybe Sunday?)
The Pizza delivery guy was one of the main ones who provided info to the other guys about the layout because he was called multiple times he says to the base to deliver pizzas.

It was a Circuit City clerk, not Bush, who caught them. --
Turned in by an American Citizen--that's how policework generally works, my man.
The idea of monitoring OVERSEAS CALLS TO KNOWN TERRORIST GROUPS is still insane in comparison when you prefer your NATIONAL SECURITY TO BE HANDLED BY CIRCUIT CITY CLERKS.
Regardless, seems like an ideal time to surrender Iraq. What better to follow-up a foiled plot to attack an American Military Base on American soil, than a symbolic surrender to those that would have us killed--with a little genocide to boot?
(I personally do NOT think the Majority of people are so stupid as to agree with the above...but the Minority that do will still likely prevail due to repetition and volume. )

And I'd prefer we get data bases talking to each other, matching gun purchases with terror suspects.
Going on six years now, and we have seen huge bureaucracies set up from scratch, large warrantless wiretap operations launched, a network of clandestine torture prisons appear, a truly ludicrous screening operation for the arbitrarily "llisted" set up at every airport, a national ID that can be hacked for everything from blood type to home phone, and still no regular old police data bases for catching the actual terrorists among us.
If that video dubber doesn't call in, that crew would still be in operation.

I think your average citizen can come up with more leads sometimes....the hard part is getting the authorites to research them instead of the "We're the CIA, why don't you leave the detective work to us" attitude. We've all gone through it...maybe not with the CIA lol but, with area law enforcement. Especially in robbery situations when you know who dun it but, nothing can be done without proof. Sometimes our laws suck.
