City Council Chairman Dan Page said he would like full disclosure on the pay of Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce President Tom Edd Wilson. The city and county require supported agencies to disclose salaries when making budget requests. In documents submitted by the Chamber, Mr. Wilson's pay is listed at $66,000. Councilman Page asked for an explanation, saying it was "admirable" that Mr. Wilson was willing to work for less than several other members of his staff. Mr. Wilson said that was not the case. He said the Chamber has two separate organizations and two separate budgets. The information turned in to the city and county did not list his pay from one of the groups, he said. He did not say what that amount is. www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_107051.asp

How many leeches can local government support? I say we get rid of the entire Chamber of Commerce and use the money saved to give a raise to the police officers and fire fighters.

I am still waiting for the formation and funding by the city of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Soon to be followed by the White Chamber of Commerce, then the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, then the European American Chamber of Commerce, then the Chinese Chamber of Commerce........
