“Noise is incomprehensible yet it is noise that we truly seek since the greatest truth lies behind the greatest resistance.” — Morton Feldman from Sound, Noise, Varèse, Boulez The Shaking Ray Levi Society’s 2nd Annual Electro-Acoustic Cupcake Festival seeks to bring truth to Chattanooga through the collaboration of several “noise” artists. “The festival, given its name by SLRS Vice President Kenny Burnap, focuses on music that is out of the ordinary and strays away from tradition,” says SRLS President Ernie Paik. “There’s nothing wrong with rock and pop music, but there’s a lot of music beyond the mainstream that is challenging, inventive, and deserving of attention. The Shaking Ray Levi Society is ‘dedicated to nurturing the next generation of non-traditional artists and arts advocates who will continue to challenge local audiences and enhance the cultural growth of Chattanooga, Tennessee.’ (This festival) fits into SRLS’s vision by inviting the curious to experience something new, unusual, and possibly inspiring.” www.chattanoogapulse.com/in-the-arts/arts-features/9-arts-feature/765-bring-in-da-noise
