LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - New research is strengthening evidence that following mom's admonition to eat your vegetables may be some of the best health advice around. A large study of 500,000 American retirees has found that just one extra serving of fruit or vegetables a day may reduce the risk of developing head and neck cancer. Numerous studies have demonstrated that diet plays a role in cancer. Cancer experts now believe that up to two-thirds of all cancers come from lifestyle factors such as smoking, diet and lack of exercise. news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070416/sc_nm/cancer_vegetables_dc;_ylt=AgipsKSqjobE6tbDrN7D8Z8DW7oF

Veggies aren't bad... if you smother them in cheese or butter. No. Really. That's why I joined a gym. I'm not getting smaller. I'm not getting lighter. But I AM getting a heck of a lot stronger. That's what I'm after. I have no desire to curl up and die of cancer or diabetes or brake a hip and fall or any of that other scary crap that is called mortality staring me in the face. The sign up boy at the gym said the majority of his new memebers are Baby Boomers trying to buy back a few years.

I love my veggies!
As for weight loss, well, as a result of giving my dd a dog for her birthday, I now have an aerobic program. The baby is my progressive weight training program. Laying off of the sweets is my biggest challenge. The weight loss is slow but is happening.
Give me more veggies.
