Was written for the movie A Hard Days Night--was "B" side for the same on 45 single.I believe McCartney wrote it about his relationship with Jane Asher-to whom he was engaged for a period of time.
Jane Asher was the sister of Peter Asher,half of the duo of Peter and Gordon,a wildly successful duo in the mid -sixties.McCartney was the writer for their #1 hit World Without Love.McCartney couldn't stay faithful during the engagement and she eventually dumped him.

I grew up listening to the Beatles since I am a child of the 60's. I still love their music, indeed they set new standards for their time, many of which still stand today. Anyone here check out the Esher Demo's? Great unreleased stuff. Great example of they guys figuring out their songs before George Martin cleaned it all up and made it palatible for the general public. doctormooney.blogspot.com/2007/03/beatles-esher-demos-1968.htmlI find it refreshing that I still meet kids that will cite the Beatles as an influence. Another example that The Beatles had the best drugs.....love this song also....the great Brian Jones of early Rolling Stones fame on sax.
