Among the many changes Riverbend organizers have made this year are a relocation of several of the stages, a larger children’s area, and the introduction of a sandy beach. The TVA Showcase stage, which will focus on local bands, has moved to in front of the River Pier Condos in the large grassy field across from the Coca-Cola Stage barge. The Bud Light Stage, the second largest stage in the festival, has moved to just inside the Olgiati Bridge facing back towards the center of the festival grounds, and features a brand new state-of-the-art sound system that Entertainment Director Dixie Fuller says will provide the best sound ever heard at the festival. And on the other side of the Olgiati Bridge is an expanded children’s area with more rides, more games, and more interactive exhibits to keep kids of all ages entertained all evening long. But likely the most popular new attraction is up Riverfront Parkway towards the Holmgren Walking Bridge. The Riverbend Beach features over 150 tons of sand, where professional and amateur sand sculptors will practice their art. Riverbend kicks off tomorrow night with headliner Willie Nelson. chattanoogapulse.com/newsfeatures/news-feature/riverbend-festival-features-many-new-changes/

I work security for RB. This is my first year working and I found out quickly that they are very disorganized. When I reported in at the volunteer gate I asked where I was supposed to go and got dear in a headlight looks from the people. Eventually they found a spot for me since the area that I was supposed to be was not needed. I had no idea of chain of command. Was not given any real orientation so I no idea of my duties. Was informed on how they wanted problems handled or who to contact when needed. No way of contacting anybody if there were problems (This goes with no info on chain of command). There is no centralized security operations. I can go on for a while of all the disorganization.
It seems that they get the big stuff correct but they forget about the detail items. What they need to do is look how Connooga or Dragon*con run security. They could learn a lot.
