Whoever is "they" in the "they are saying" is nothing but a rumor monger and has nothing to do with the festival. There will in fact be a band performing after the B-52's, which we know by the simple fact that Friends of the Festival had to get special permission from the city to run the festival longer that night.
As to who it will be, the much more knowledgeable rumors I've heard involved individual members of some of the bands scheduled to play at Bonnaroo next weekend. It's not a "group" per se, more like a jam session.

Well, looking at the Friday night lineup at Bonnaroo-I see one artist I would LOVE to see and who would appeal to the B-52s crowd....

Didn't Joe Walsh appear with Glenn Frey a bunch of years ago before the Eagles reformed?

The contract may read that "bands" may not play both, but maybe individuals IN the bands are allowed ... therefore the "jam" idea. And yes, Three Dog Night was MOST EXCELLENT. Sounded as fresh as when I first heard them so many years ago.

Joe Walsh staggering onto the stage with the B-52s... Let's not have him as the Mystery Guest again. Please. Three Dog Night put on quite a show. The Wailers were great too

Joe Walsh wasn't a special guest with Glenn Frey, they were both on the ticket.

Commissioner Gordon arrested Colonel Mustard for Phishing w/o a license. The Colonel protested and said I was just playing with 1 Phish. The Bakerman opened his big mouth so the possiblity might be Capped. More truth in the above than Bob Payne's Chattanoogan article.

Au contraire on the"bovine fecal matter"......the Sunday rumor was all wrong from the get-go. Is it someone(s) also playing Bonnaroo?---yup Is it Thursday?---yup Will a large portion of the crowd know the performers?---nope If they DO play will it rock?---Yup Where will it be if it happens?---The stage on the green What are the chances?---50/50--was 90/10 till someone spilled the beans and the big bean-counter in Manchester got red. Unless your a jammy kinda dude of dudette--this may not be your "thang".

The people who are into the type of music that will be played will be very pleased with the "mystery performers". It's not Peral Jam or the Beastie Boys or Bruce Springsteen or anything like that, though it has been fun seeing all the rumors fly around.

If it is who is being intimated here, I'd feel like a phish out of water and go home anyway.
Besides, I'm going to see the Persuasions instead.

Geez, Chip Baker drops one little hint about a possible mystery guest, and suddenly there's widespread panic.
