I didn't make it to Friday night's Riverbend shows, but a couple of letters on Chattanoogan say that Willie Nelson was awful...didn't complete his songs, was too old, and stuff like that.
Was he really that bad?

Willie is no doubt an acquired taste and even when he is good, he is bad, if that makes any sense.

All caveats aside, he was pretty bad.

It was thoroughly embarassing. For him, anyway.
(The initial Chattanoogan flame was accurate. 10% lyrics, band overplayed him, and there was a substantial chance he was actually deceased, being animated by a complex series of pins and rods.)

And naturally...I like Willie Nelson.

I've seen Willie quite a few times when he was in his prime including when he came to the Roundhouse in the 80s and when he's been at Riverbend before. I'm glad I didn't see him this year if it was that bad.

Maybe he just got hold of some o' that hydroponically grown weed? That's probably the only kind he smokes these days.

I was disappointed. He looked drunk. Lots of people standing around me left, shaking their heads. I really like Willie and was saddened to see his performance.

Like I posted in the previous Willie thread, even his current studio stuff sounds like shiat. He needs to retire.

But he's Willie Nelson. If he dropped dead, you could stuff him and set him on the stage and people would come see him.

I look pretty young, but I'm just back-dated.

We can expect the title of his next live album to be "Weekend at Willie's."

As long as he was better than Joe Walsh.

We normally hear Riverbend ( if loud enough) from our deck, Willie night , not a peep. The Commodores sounded pretty good tonight. Last year Steve Miller had me dancing.

He's a washed-up old fart who can't carry a tune any more.
I just posted this so Gary can rank out my ass like he did last year about the 'talent'.
Funny, Crowder does the same thing in the 'Pulse' and gets editorial backing. Strange world.
