Just sharing some personal information. I've done some really crazy/brave/stupid things (one of which put me in a wheelchair) This is a poll to see if you guys can guess how fast I have actually gone sitting in my wheelchair. (don't count sitting in my wheelchair in a van, only count with the wheelchair wheels on the ground)
a couple of you know the answer, don't talk K??

I said 30, I hope you wouldn't even go that fast! But then again, this sticker says it all! BTW, I took this the day after Yoda took his!

From what little I know of Bob, I can see something like THIS happening, maybe not quite so much on accident.

I guessed "50 +" and you were holding onto a vehicle. Or the hair of someone inside a vehicle.

I can get to 10 by just going down hill in mine. I can get 30+ in my Quickie Shark, but no way in hell would the casters on my chair hold up for that speed. If hanging onto a car,20-25 can be done fairly easily so that's what I'll say.

If hanging onto a car,20-25 can be done fairly easily so that's what I'll say. I thought I was the only one here that gets to park close... [grin] I was going to wait till tomorrow but I'll "tell" now. When I was married to the girl before Karen, we went to road Atlanta to see Gary Griffeth race. Terry and Gary both knew we were going to be there and about half way through the race Terry showed up on his scooter. He said "You guys want into the pits? I'll take you" so I held on to the back of his scooter and patricia got on back. When I started to worry about high-speed-wobble with my 8" very tight very tuned casters i let go. Terry told me later "If you hadn't let go for another few seconds we would have hit 50" So the answer is "almost 50" Pushing a racing chair, going down the hill from veterans to riverfront I was going, according to witnesses, close to 30. (several people said around 30 but the majority that I asked said a variety of obscenities with "crazy" and "nuts" repeated). This was during the Riverbend 10k run six or more years ago. I also had to turn the curve at chestnut with people everywhere (I think I only hit two of them) then I knocked over most of the cones as they were not far enough apart for my chair. Racing wheelchairs is great fun but its an expensive hobby and compared to the "real" racers I suck... [shrug] FYI: the fastest "runners" in the world are in wheelchairs. The guys that win peachtree 10k every year do iy in 17 or so minutes) Just so everyone understands that wheelchairs don't normally go that fast, this is my wheelchair (before the many many mods(tires/castors/rake/bearings/steering/brakes/clothing plates, cushion) this is what a racing chair looks like (they do nothing well but go fast)
