It's a thin line between pleasure and pain.
I managed once again to get into some poison ivy, and I've been suffering the incredible itching for about a week now. Poison ivy reactions have about a 10 day span, and that means I'm getting to the final days. Yesterday the worst part was oozing and dripping down my calf and achingly painful. Last night I soaked in epsom salts to finish drying it all out and today... today it's very much in the healing stage.
Of course, that's not to say it doesn't still itch like crazy. Healing skin IS itchy, of course, and hence my initial sentence. I just caught myself scratching at a patch of poison ivy, eyes rolled back in ecstasy at the pleasurable pain. It felt sooooo goooooood. Too bad reason reminded me to stop.

There's a line. Razor thin, but it's there.

When I get poison ivy, it is a gift from Hell. Nothing but a doctor's prescription can get me over it. It get in my blood stream and my entire body breaks out. Hope you find peace.

Ocean Potion works great on most skin irritations, as it has lanacaine (sp?) in it...novacaine for the skin.

Oddly enough, neither hubby nor I was allergic to it when we were kids. Now we are. But apparently, it has to break the skin before either of us gets it. I get small cases... Hubby gets nasty, full blown, gotta go to the doc-in-a-box for a shot kind.

Everyone is allergic to poison ivy. If you have never had a reaction, you have never been exposed. The leaf of the ivy is not poisonous. When you break the leaf and the juice contacts skin, ITCH, ITCH big time.

Animals can run through it, rub against you, sit on the couch, whatever and spread it. Door handles, tools, shoes, just about everything. If anyone in my house has worked or played in it or near it, I clean all the afore mentioned with Clorox wipes. Well, not the animals, they just get a bath! My hubby wasn't allergic to it until a few years ago. Back then he would spread it to me all the time.
