I was on a Lee Highway bus this morning with my husband; he remarked that McKay's looked like it had closed, and moved somewhere. Not having my glasses on, I couldn't tell. Anybody have information about this?
Thanks...

Rune, they've moved all the way out to the dead-end of Lee, past Bonny Oaks.

What thrift store? America's Thrift? McKays is way on the other end of Lee Hwy. Its past the Lee Hwy, Bonny Oaks intersection. Really a nice place, bigger and better.

bigger building, nicer spaced but much less efficient.
Unfortunately i live on Lookout and it is way to much of a hall for me to go anymore. The one time I went this summer (which is when I found out they moved) they told me it would take over 2 hours to process my returned books. I had to return within 5 days to get my credit. I used up all of my old credit and probably won't go back. it is just too far. I am going to try All books downtown and grumpys and see how it goes. I just read WAY to much to buy all my books new. it kind of sucks...but i never am out where mckays is now. never.

Isn't there a place on Ringgold Road near Linda's Produce? Passed it numerous times; never visited.

There is also a nice little used book shop down town...I think it's on Broad Street, about the 400 block.

Broad Street is Allbook. Pollie is a little eccentric and the store is totally a disaster zone but you can find some incredible books there. She buys estate books site unseen and sometimes the stuff she gets is crazy...kind of like her. not sure how organized it is for return books etc as I have never asked..usually just go in there to see what I can find. plan to spend time there it is never a short trip.

The "Book Rack" across from Sonic (3500 block?) in Red Bankistan also has 2 for 1 trades on paperbacks. She recently began to only allow 80% trade-in (You pay the other 20% in cash). Still a good deal and she has a great selection.

WinderBinder on Frazier has merged with A Novel Idea. David has some interesting finds in there, as well.

The book rack has been there longer than that. It was there when I was in high school which was... more than 20 years ago.
