Ok... It's starting. The customers are coming in, good, bad, nice and nasty. We get all kinds.
Today, I got the one that has quite possibly creeped me out more than any other in the past 20ish years.
This nice looking young couple comes in, about 17 ish. Old enough to drive over by themselves, wearing high school team clothing. The girl is looking for something, her boy friend is just 'there'.
He's the creepy one. Every time I looked in his direction, he was touching his penis. I'm not talking that 'Gangsta Grab' that you see around where the guys are holding their pants up more than anything else. Not scratching. Fondling it. His fingers lightly dancing across the center front of his silky athletic shorts. I ignore him, keep my eyes on the girl, then say "Here are all the items you asked about. I'll let you look." And walk away. The girl comes up to me again, asks a question. Fondle, Fondle going on behind her. Again, I ignore him.
I get a phone call that the son is in need of 'Mom's Taxi Service'. I excuse myself, my mom takes my spot behind the counter and I go get my purse. As I start back out toward the door, the couple is in front of the check out counter and 'boyfriend' has his arm shoved INSIDE his shorts up to the elbow! In front of my 78 year old MOTHER! I threw up my hand and said "Back shortly" and breezed on out.
I'm so happy the boy didn't try anything on.
*shudder*

Police were no where in sight, they were catching people at the drive thru bank line, that had only an ID, not valid or driving. Oops, I never should have said anything. I will desist. Or is that detest? Please give me another beer. Oh wait, please just give me a beer.

Yeah, look into my Walther 380. I'll teach you the proper way to act in public. You will limp, but you get over it.

I guess I should count my lucky stars. In over 20 years in retail (not just B&B) - I've only been 'flashed' once. And this is the first guy with an obsession with his winky.

Funny, reading the first sentence of your post, I was thinking, there are worst things than customers who at least plan ahead. And I guess the other positive thought is, if this duo gets what they want now, maybe you won't have to deal with them again toward the end of October when things start getting REALLY stressful.
...and did you suggest the Fernwood Flasher costume? She could go as Mary Hartman.
...Yeah, my age is definitely showing.

Not a problem, Babs.
-----
Yesterday's nut was on the phone. (They usually are.) He wanted a costume of an 8-ball, "like on the pool table" he told me, just incase I had been living under a rock all my life.
I told him, "No, I don't have one. Sorry."
He asks "Do you know where I could get one?"
I explained that I had never seen one commercially available. That doesn't mean that they don't exist, just that I don't recall ever seeing one.
"So where could I go on the internet to get one?"
(What part of "I've never seen one" did not compute?) "I don't know, sir."
"What about having one made?"
"I don't do custom order work anymore. Sorry."
"Oh no. I mean that if I make one, I'll make one for you and then we'll both have one."
(Joy! And only one of us has ever had any desire for an 8-Ball costume.) "We'll see about that. Thank you."
Hang up before it gets worse.

What? You mean you don't want clumsily made 8-ball costumes? I'm sure they'd sell like hotcakes! Hotcakes! I tell ya! heheh

Hey if the guy did good work you could sub out some of the tedious "our school play is in a month and we have 50 kids" work

Maybe you should have offered a Richard Simmons costume?

Cut the wanker some slack. Being 17 and horny is probably one of the best times ever. I'm sure he couldn't help but think about his girl in those slutty costumes and what he would do to her that night. Had I been sexually active I'm sure I would try to sneak in a fondle or two whilst nobody is looking. His downfall is that somebody WAS looking.

Oh Yeah Bay-Bay! That's probably better looking that my 'customer' would do. I really want one of those taking up space in my shop.
Kind of the same reason I don't have a "Sponge Bob" mascot costume. It would take up more space than it was worth. When you have as much STUFF as I do in a limited amount of space, you have to make decisions based on "Where would I put it?" and "Would anyone really PAY for it?"

Pardon me while I turn this into my "Vent Blog".
**Really LONG Rant deleted**
What's with people who think "The rules don't apply to me"?
What's with people who think the "I MIGHT buy 50 of these later, so give me the first half dozen for free." line actually works?
What's with people who think they can try on wigs or stockings without damaging them?
What's with people who get angry because we tell them "No, I won't stay 30 minutes past closing time so you can come 'look'." Extended Halloween hours start in October.
What's with people who come in wanting me to custom make them a costume NOW? - Even when they see boxes of stock stacked up to my shoulders all over the floor.... they still don't get "I'm to busy."
What's with people who NEED to look at Christmas costumes in August for a parade after Thanksgiving?
