With a defeated look on his childlike face, Hubby has 'called off' the haunted yard this year.
This unrelenting rain is making it impossible to build. All the wood is saturated, bending and breaking under the weight of trying to keep this monsoon off the areas to decorate. The main 'room' has now collapsed twice. Hubby just doesn't have the heart to do it again. He just doesn't want to risk having these unpredictable water falls destroy his props. Plus, growing fear of electrocution/fire from electrical cords lying in puddles (Even if they ARE rated for outdoor use) is starting to weigh heavily upon his fun loving brow.
While we have stood stead fast on the side of Halloween fun against the railings of one church, two city halls, and a bevy of witchy neighbors, we just can't fight Mother Nature.
We will be making a 'pilgrimage' to Neitherworld in Atlanta on Saturday night, October 3rd. And will most likely be having a Halloween Party in the front yard on the 31st, weather permitting.

Oh, I hate that for you! You're right, though. You can't do anything about the rain. At least you'll have a more relaxing October this year!

I'm so sorry to hear this Scarlett. Your haunted yard is a Chattanooga staple.
Also sorry you're picking the one weekend out of six that I won't be in the Atlanta area. I might have been able to meet you for the haunt otherwise.

With a defeated look on his childlike face, Hubby has 'called off' the haunted yard this year. After the battle with the neighbors from hell last year, I don't blame ya...

You know the church will think they won. It won't be the only delusional thought they cling to... Bloody LAB Rats

Yesterday, it didn't pour all day. Hubby saw a weather report that there is only a 35% chance of rain on two days this week. He started making noises about "We could open on the 2nd weekend".... I had to remind him "We already told everyone it was off."
You gotta love the eternal optimist. But whatever he builds on Wednesday will be in a swampy lake by Sunday. I'm not keen on that.
