Go Wild at Go!Fest at the Chattanooga Zoo

Visitors of all abilities will go wild for a free day at the Chattanooga Zoo during the fourth annual
Go!Fest celebration Saturday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., although the Chattanooga Zoo
will be free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Animal attractions and interactions abound, but breaking boundaries and increasing disability
awareness are at the heart of Go!Fest, which also will showcase activities, entertainment and
information from various social service agencies and other civic-minded groups, businesses and
institutions.

Go!Fest is part of an initiative created by Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield to help make
Chattanooga more accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability.

“People of all abilities want to live their lives to the fullest – without limitations,” said Mayor
Littlefield. “And the public’s perception and awareness about disabilities will expand when
discoveries are made about how people with different abilities live, work and play together. We
all benefit from unlocking the unique gifts of every citizen. That’s what Go!Fest is all about.”

In addition to the Chattanooga Zoo’s unique offering of animals, exhibits and a petting zoo, other
event features include:

• Demonstrations of adaptive athletics, including basketball and cycling;

• Various musicians and street performers featuring a variety of genres and talents;

• Numerous food vendors offering everything from hotdogs and hamburgers to
pizza and health food;

• An education and career fair showcasing educational and health resources for
people with and without disabilities;

• An art showcase by featured artists with disabilities; and

• Activities including a large “Touch-A-Truck” exhibit that features fire trucks,
police cars, ambulances, dump trucks and S.W.A.T. vehicles.

you guys need to come at least say hey to Karen and I as we will have booths there trying to "hawk our wares"... [grin]

(actually neither Karen or I feel we should be categorized as "disabled artists" as we have the same ability to create our art as any "able" person. but Go-Fest loves us to be there and I so love the zoo...)
