--- from an email from CHattanooga OUtdoors ---
Grab the poopie bags. The City of Chattanooga's Parks and Recreation Department will officially open Ross' Landing to “responsible” pet owners and their leashed and licensed dogs on Friday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. with a meet and greet and information session for area pet owners. DoGood for Chattanooga will be at Ross' Landing, along with City park rangers and personnel from McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center, to provide information about what will be required of pet owners in “dog-friendly” City facilities.

First and foremost, responsible pet owners pick up after their pets.

Also they make these little bitty bag dispensers that easily attach to your leash with each roll containing around twenty bags. Get one, keep it filled and use it. Oh and when you fill the bag, tie a knot in it to seal it shut. That will keep people from complaining about the smell and the flies around the trashcans.
And teach your dog to heel.

You have a couple of sensors available to you to prevent that. They are called eyes.

Its dick head dog owners that caused the riverpark to be "no pets" and its the same people that will cause that to be revoked, I promise.

Yeppers. It's the folks who do not think that rules apply to them that make life difficult for everyone.

I'm sorry, I didn't think about the liquids. My dogs have never presented me with that problem before. They use the grass or go in an area covered with pine straw or some other mulch. The closest problem to them urinating in an improper place is that the little male likes to mark mailbox posts and one of my neighbors has decided a little toy American flag stuck in the ground at the base of his mailbox is a good decoration.
My point was that regardless of how responsible pet owners are if you are in a park there is going to be poo in the grass. The geese at our lake leave piles a bulldog would be proud of and the rabbits around the tennis courts generate more manure than some cows. You have to use your eyes even if dogs are banned. I'm saying this as a person who is barefoot most of the time I'm outdoors.

My Jack just left me a little 'gift' in the kitchen in front of the microwave. At least I saw it first.

You have a couple of sensors available to you to prevent that. They are called eyes. How many times have you stepped in dog shit,or gum? Your eyes donj;t always work well enough to spot a turd....or pee, gum,or whatever. Now,with a "responsible" dog owner, the poo will be picked up,but there will still be that remaining layer left on the sidewalk, along with wee. Don't get me wrong,I love pets, especially furry dogs....but I hate getting the remnants of dog shit on my hands even worse. So I say boo to this!

But goose shit is okay?
I'm barefoot when I'm outside most of the time anymore or I'm wearing a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. I don't like getting the yucky stuff on my feet any more than you like getting it on your hands but shit happens. I am almost evangelistic when it comes to encouraging responsible pet ownership but I'm outside enough to know that dogs aren't the only one's defecating in our parks. That's why I keep wipes in my truck and car and in my day pack.
My dogs are thoroughly cleaned up after and I make sure they urinate in the appropriate places.
