does anyone know where i can rent a belt sander similar to the picture? i have a bedroom that the carpet was removed from and the floor is hardwood. no damage, just paint stains from the previous owners, 11 years ago. we want to restore this floor to its original luster, or as close to it as possible. why anyone would cover up a hardwood floor just baffles my mind. anyway, here is a picture of the sander. i know there are many different models, but this image is to give the general idea of what i am looking to rent. it is hard to get any local information on the weekends, and i figured that someone here in the forums has dealt with an issue like this. thanks for any information.

Don't think I would want something that heavy duty. Try just a belt sander. Harder on the knees, but gentler on the floor. But, I restore antiques.

I rented one of those from Hamilton Rent it in Red Bank several years ago. Just ask for a drum floor sander. It'll wear you out!

I rented one a few years back from a place on 23rd st. I think it was Knox-Tenn. Be very careful with a drum sander, it is very easy to make your floors wavy with one. If they have them, get an orbital sander instead, it will take a bit longer and use more consumables, but is less likely to cause problems, as it is a flat surface, not round like the drum sander. You'll also need one of those triangle shaped hand sanders to get to the edges and corners.
Home Depot rents them as well, I believe.
